It feels more like a double standard to me, not just because of the Gaban thing but because we saw Jozu and Sanji seemingly get trapped in Doffy's Parasite move and not be able to do anything and that was just seen as a testament to Doffy's trickiness and how strong his fruit is. Yet Jinbe (who you can argue is stronger than Jozu) getting trapped by Gunko doesn't mean Gunko is just that hard to fight against without proper knowledge, it means Jinbe's a fraud, purely because it's just funny to say he's a fraud.
