I said if you remove his creepy gag. There’s a reason why so many women like him. Whether it’s something I want to be? Hell nah. I’d rather be like Zoro. Though my ideal person isn’t someone that stoic. I’d rather be goofy as well instead of edgy but Zoro’s consistency in my studies and fitness will be amazing.
No I mean conventionally attractive part.
At the end of the day it is a cartoon and I don't think any One Piece character is really drawn to be conventionally attractive male or female.

But all we can truly take from fictional characters are intangible attributes like the moral compass, leadership, work-ethic etc.

Shanks already had the scar even before taking the Devil fruit from Who's Who. Obviously he was marked when Teach injured him.
Yea, Shanks has the mark at that time, but it works differently than other who has the mark.

WsW in this panel sounds like he isn't the guy who stole the DF from Elbaph.

I mean, I think we are missing the point here.
First, ACoC is not the "panacea". Haki itself is. Haki became this the moment Oda got tired of thinking clever ways Luffy had to find to fight Logia users who were always pretty much invincible otherwise, even when fighting other logias. water for Croco, rubber for enel, DF hierarchy, Teach's darkness, all of these were too much restricted.
Here comes Haki to save the day.
Also, people are really, REALLY getting ahead of themselves with this "everyone will get it". Only TWO SHs have it, with a strong INDICATION that a 3rd might. But ZERO indication that any of the others will get it. That is FINE. compared to the amount of character in the OP world, having even 20 characters with it EoS would still be a SEVERELY small sample of people.
Also, take into consideration Skypie and Enel.
Enel viewed himself a God, why? Because of his invincibility due to his logia ability. The moment some random took that invincibility away, Enel got rekt. But if it weren't for a "counter", Enel would have destroyed everyone and everything there.
The immortality here serves this very same purpose. These characters view themselves as GODS. This immortality is what makes them a formidable force that don't need to go around removing Yonkos or whatever. They RULE the world. They aren't the challengers. They don't need to do shit because the status quo is in their favor.
So having....AHEM...a HANDFUL of people that can actually defy them directly serves the idea that it's very difficult to take them down unless more people band together. Remember that most coc users are actually really hard to work together. Rocks had that issue as his downfall, allegedly.
So, when you take a step back and look at the big picture, you kinda see that it's not much of a big deal as one could initially think.
:pepeiseeu:
Agree with your take on Haki in general but don't think it's necessarily a bad thing.
There was always going to be a need for a universal counter to devil fruits at some point and as interesting as the concept of utilizing opposing abilities to counter devil fruit abilities was, in all honesty, it's wasn't very practical and a tad too unrealistic imo. I mean how do you even fight Akainu without Haki for instance or how do you even stand a chance at reacting to Kizaru's speed without Haki. So personally don't think Haki being a panacea to devil fruit abilities is inherently bad.

That said however, I disagree on CoC. Even with all the fuss Oda made about CoA being the solution to Kaido's dragon scales at the start of Wano, Oda scrapped that shit mid fight and ended up having Luffy brute force it with CoC coating instead. Then there's Zoro's fight against King of which the solution to King's durability also ended up being Zoro brute forcing it with CoC coating. Now it's also the solution to the immortality problem? This is bascially just Oda being too lazy to think up a logical counter to immortality and just going with "it's special so it works" :lawsigh:. I mean as dead/boring as Morj's permanent Haki theory was, it was a million times more creative than this shit.

With regards to who end up learning CoC, ordinarily I'd also lean more towards just the M3 having it on the crew but this dumb ass direction makes me doubt that, coz everyone else is basically useless if immortality is a thing going forward coz how else do you even fight Imu's scrubs otherwise or are the M3 going to fight everybody?

I get the gods/special ting but it could've been something other type of haki that only a few people in the verse can use and it'd have been the same exact same ting imo. CoC cannot be learnt so feels a bit daft to me. Haki in general being a counter to DF abilities makes sense but just CoC? why? lol

Not gonna lie I'm pretty peeved that this is the fuckery Oda came up with after making it seem like the weaker SHs were gonna get some development this arc.

Wait, so Shanks formed his red hair pirates just 14 years ago? but in the movie Red it shows that red hair pirates adopted Uta when she was a baby and Uta is one year older than Luffy. that means red hair pirates should have been for atleast 20 years. L timeline by Oda
