this idea that Zoro is so clueless as to not know what powers he has is a cheap storytelling tactic to set up Zoro not knowing what Ashura is.

This is similar to how Zoro used AdvCoA in Alabasta before actually learning regular CoA with direct training from Mihawk…

Oda is setting up that Zoro has been using Ashura for Years now (as in Years in the story itself) but he somehow HAS NO FUCKING IDEA what he’s doing

The reason Zoro’s Ashura isn’t treated the same way as Luffy’s gears and Sanji’s diable jambe even though they are all power ups from the same arc… Is because Zoro, somehow for 2 years now, has no idea he has Ashura… same way he didn’t know he had CoA in Alabasta and didn’t know he had CoC

This is set up for Zoro at the last minute to actually recognize that he has this bizarre ability to cut people with his soul and then he’ll get some power up from actually understanding he has Ashura at the very last moment when the series is ending

I thought during Egghead that Vegapunk was the perfect character to get an explanation for Asura but he didn't even get to see it...
On the other hand, Vegapunk is on Egghead as a satellite and we also have Imu present who said that Demons are pinnacle of existence...

The perfect opportunity to display Asura to both Vegapunk and Imu is here but Oda be Oda, nothing will be said about it.
It is a silly writing indeed, considering that Luffy with an affinity for COC couldn't use aCoC without realizing the specifics and supposedly a guy who has no clue is doing the same thing.

It's kinda funny that Zoro doesn't know about specific things - CoC, Black Blades and perhaps Asura to an extent.
CoC probably ties into Black Blades somehow or not due to it being a general sum of the characters strength but Black Blades are the peak of Haki while Asura is the peak of desire so the reason why these are treated differently from others is because they are way ahead of their time, this is endgame stuff and Oda is only leaving crumbs so far.
