If you don't count Gaban vs Sommer fight, I'd say this arc is the slowest in term of fights. More than 25 chapters in and the M3 hasn't fight anyone yet.
By this time in Egghead we got Law vs BB, M3 vs Cp9, SH vs Seraphins, Aokiji vs Garp, Shanks vs Kid and Kizaru and Saturn we pulling up.
I really don’t care about how many small clashes are in an arc? I’d rather an arc have solid story progression leading to one good actually war rather than oda write another Wano with a bunch of minor clashes and cheap action but no actual narrative movement

People are complaining about the flashback but I think the timing of it is fine tbh

We’re about to hit the climax of the arc so it’s pretty much now or never

No one would want a flashback in the middle of the invasion (once Zoro/Sanji get to the top and Luffy/Loki join as well) and I doubt anyone would want a lengthy flashback at the very end of the arc either

Gotta do it now or don’t do it at all
Yeah + if people are smart and have read the manga, they'd know this flashback is about more than Harald. It should give info on WG, God knights, Imu, the Nika fruit if that is what's in that chest, Loki and Hajrudin. And even if that doesn't satisfy people, I'm sure we'll see young Shanks meeting Harald in Mariejoie, that should be enough.

Yeah, I agree. But between those "clashes", Egghead still had a lot of lore (Kuma/Bonney relation, Emeth, mother flame, Queen lily, Garling family, more on GV, Vegapunk on df, Gorosei true form and powers, Kuma past, Joyboy info, the world sinking etc...).
And still keep the pacing with the fights.
Kuma fb and VP speech was the boring stretch of the arc, while Elbaf had the lego part, we finally met Loki and Oda did dog sh*t with him for the last 20 chapters, we got Shamrock and Gunko (the only interesting HK imo) and he got rid of Shanrock inmediately and we got stuck with 1 clown and a horse. Gunko was the other interesting HK and now is possesed by Imu. Imu just made more fodders demons and more fodder dram monsters (so more waste of space, just like the numbers on Wano). And now we enter the fb... yeah, aside from Shamrock and Gaban, and Robin/Saul reunion, this is another Wano but worse, not fights.

Oden flashback 12 chapters.
Kuma flashback 8 chapters.

I'm guessing harald will be as long as kuma. We're going back to present time in sept/octobr.
I 100% think this is a giant reason Oden was so hated.

12 chapter flashback with no real lore reveals.

That's more or less 4-5 months of One Piece releases.

Oden's flashback needed to be split up into two parts and have more sauce to it.

Taking 5 months to show Oden's journey then get no real lore out of it after the abomination that was Wano Act 2 pacing wise was just BLEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH and really ruined people's taste for the rest of the Raid.

People bitch about the Raid, but what actually destroyed Wano's pacing was Luffy in Udon and Oden's flashback. The Raid was fine, the aftermath once again having little lore was frustrating.

They found out Pluton was in the country, and the crew talked about it for like 3 panels. Holy fuckin shit, ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, that udon prison part is really terrible and slow. Oda finally gave us 4 chapters straight after 2 years i guess. But all 4 chapters are udon chapters...

THANK YOU. I'm tired of people complaining about act 3 being the worst and act 2 being the best like WHAT? Udon was a borefest with new fodders characters with ugly design that not one give a %$
And then that long boring Oden fb after that was overkill

Act 1 was decisively the worst part of Wano.
Pretime skip Oda would write Wano like:
-10 chapters with the crew knowing the place
-2 chapters of Luffy vs Kaido
-5 chapters of Luffy learning ryo/Zoro with Enma and the crew preparing the invasion
-5 chapters of Oden fb
-1chapter to arrive at Onigashima
-4 chapters before Luffy encounters Kaido
-15 chapters of rooftop (with all the fights)
-5 chapters post wano

47 chapters without filler characters and plots, no Yamato, no BM, just 4/5 scabbards, no ice oni, no Orochi, not numbers and headliners, not Ace conection etc...

Act 3 had some issues, but, overall, it was really functional/well done. For a segment of the story with THAT MANY characters at once, I think Oda did at least an 8/10, and a 9/10 in some parts. Zoro vs King, Sanji vs Queen, Luffy vs Kaido are legit great fights. Robin's Black Maria fight was good, Franky's fight was fucking hilarious, Usopp and Nami being that weak was disappointing, but made sense, they're freaking weak.

Act 2 is hard carried by Yasuie, Queen, and Linlin. Yasuie is legit the best part of it, and it's because he's both meaningful, but doesn't take up a ton of screen time. Yasuie felt 10x more emotional than Hyo, because Udon had so many useless fights and stalling. Hyo's this indebted to Luffy, and doesn't think to... IDK, teach him the Haki that can break people out of the prison? THE FUCK?

Queen carried Act 2 hard, and his fight with Linlin was great, but really short. Oda takes too long on set up and doesn't spent enough time in the climaxes, it's like an hour of foreplay for 2 minutes of intercourse sometimes.

If you hate Big Mom, Act 2 was ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. The entire Orochi raid had no stakes, who the fuck actually thought Komurasaki was dead? WHO????
Anyone who says this unironically is trolling and or insane, not mutually exclusive ofc lol. I mean Act 2 being the best and Act 3 the worst. They HAVE to be trolling or/and delusional.
I'm a delusional troll sometimes (working on it, sigh), and even I know it's insane.

Eh. I like Hawkins, the Law stuff was fun, the Samurai Ghosts were cool, I like Tama a lot (if you hate Tama Act 1 is ass), and the Kaido section was fantastic. I think Act 1 is a good set up arc, but then Act 2 happens and... it just keeps... setting up...

And then we get the longest flashback in the series without a single new lore drop in it to start Act 3.

Oda's Wano editors are actually Manga Terrorists. Wano Act 1 = 8/10, Wano Act 2 = 5/10, Wano Act 3 = 8/10.

Wano Act 3.5 Yamato's Cover Series 5/10 so far. Wano is just such a bipolar territory when it comes to Oda's writing.
