He's telling Catarina what Akainu said to him. Akainu tells him during the fight, that they're fighting to the death so he feels something building up within him. The quote simply establishes the two had agreed to a fight to the death.

However, Kuzan being the one who was challenging Akainu, as Akainu was already selected by the WG to be FA. So it wouldn't make sense that Kuzan is being soft.

Everything from her back story to her personality to her abilities where all awesome, but it feels like Oda took an amazing painting and just threw buckets of paint on it because while big mom as the most interesting back story and most fun and creative abilities what he did to her on wano was atrocious it just tells me adding her there was an after thought but even the way she got her abilities is more interesting than anyone else's

We didn't had backstory of the others like we did from Big Mom. But to call her interesting unless you are talking about her good lookings when younger and to mean you are into her that's wild...
