Kaido wants Joy Boy to exist.

IMO, Kaido went to Fish-Man Island and talked to Shyarly. The timing fits: Shyarly was 3 at that time, and she was already making prophecies by then, canonically.

Shyarly told Kaido he wasn't Joy Boy, but Joy Boy would be the one to defeat him.

The Kaido from King's flashback has a straight up Roger/Luffy smile: Kaido BELEIVED he was Joy Boy. Then, found out he wasn't.

Kaido realizes Ace is Roger's kid, and believes him to be Joy Boy.

There's one card missing from Kaido's Crew/Deck: the Ace.

Kaido respected the people who challenged him, Kaido wouldn't want to kill Ace. Kaido wanted Kidd and Luffy to both join his crew, and even had Queen run the Sumo Inferno to break Luffy's will so he'd join. Queen told Luffy that at any point, he could join Kaido's crew and stop fighting.

Kaido wants Joy Boy to be real: Roger's son LITERALLY SHOWS UP TO FIGHT HIM, and before Kaido can, Ace gets killed.

The hilarious part of this is that if I'm right, Kaido HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATES AKAINU

The money I don't have that I would pay if I did

To see Hybrid Flame Dragon Torch Kaido vs Awakened Akainu (plz Wano Act 4 plz)

Kaido wanted to create a world war. Kaido dislike Newgate's pacifist approach, IMO. But, Ace? Ace was a hot-head.

Kaido knew Newgate was on his last legs: Kaido wanted to steal Ace for himself, like he tried to get Luffy and Kidd into his crew.

Kaido wanted Ace the same reason the WG wanted to kill him:

They both thought Ace would be Joy Boy

But, nope, it's this dingus:

Kaido spent all this time telling Linlin he'd kill her if she came to Wano.

Queen dragged Linlin to Kaido in chains...

And he freed her...

To fight her...

And a few hours later they were drinking together and making a Yonkou Alliance

Like fucking shit Kaido would try to kill Newgate, he's his Nakama

Kaido went to Marineford to fuck up the Marines, why in the fuck would he choose to fight his former Nakama, Newgate, when Kaido despises the WG/CDs?

Why in the fuck would Kaido want to kill Ace?
Because before he joined Whitebeard, Ace started some trouble on Onigashima.

And Kaido is a petty brute. He wanted to be Joy Boy solely because he's the guy who takes down the WG. He wasn't interested in being the caretaker for whoever became the real deal.

And knowing the people running the legal system like fucking children

Very, very torn

Also, am I wrong, or, does the Waiting Room become more like the Politics thread the more breaks we get/the more Oda drags the shit out of necessary lore reveals?

Law and Luffy literally destroyed Kaido's entire SMILE operation with Doffy and Caesar, and he still tried to recruit them.

You said it yourself: Kaido wants Joy Boy to take down the WG.

Kaido learned bits of the prophecies Toki and Oden learned of via the past and Laugh Tale.

Kaido knows Joy Boy is the key.

What did Kaido due to Wano?

Joy Boy liberates oppression.

And Kaido... the guy who wanted to be Joy Boy... did everything to Wano... that would make Joy Boy want to save it

I also think Shanks told Kaido that Luffy is important when they fought, and we'll get that flashback soon

Kaido wanted to recruit Luffy after Luffy shut down a plan he had been working on for years. Kaido ain't killing Ace over a statue. If Ace had hurt Kaido's crew, maybe.

But a statue? Luffy ruined Doflamingo and Kaido still wanted Luffy, Ace breaking a statue is worth like one jug of Sake to Kaido, and that's NOT MUCH CONSIDERING THIS MAN'S DRINKING

Trying to break someone's will to turn them little more into a slave isn't exactly a sign of good will.

But regardless of how he recruits people, there was no way Kaido actually was planning to "recruit" Ace. He was just going to attack an old rival in Whitebeard and that was it. There was no way in Hell your idea of Kaido wanting to "help" Whitebeard just to find a potential JB as a reward is at all feasible.

Also, if Oda really wanted Shanks to be a morally grey figure that much, then why introduce the evil twin angle?

I think Shamrock is a good dude deep down and is morally grey in the other direction. Shanks is someone who's called evil who is good. Shamrock is an evil person who wants to be good.

Can I ask why you think Kaido wants to kill Newgate?

Please post a single panel/scene where it's proved Kaido wanted to attack Newgate.

The Marines told us that Kaido wanted to fight Whitebeard, and they're lying pieces of shit.

Right...the smug asshole who sicks his dog sword on someone who can't fight back and suggests making a game of kidnapping children is "someone who wants to be good".

And he wanted to kill Newgate because Kaido has this weird thing about dying in battle. Either he gets the glory of killing someone more famous then he is or he finally dies himself.

Loki is not a "good" person, and Shamrock was willing to leave him alone until Loki kept yapping. Shanks is clearly a sore-spot for Shamrock: since we know Shanks returned to Marijoa for a time, I believe Shamrock truly loves Shanks and wanted him to be his brother.

I think Shamrock actually attacked Loki because Loki badmouthed Shanks.

Oda turned Robin and Bon Kurei into fan favorites when they literally helped caused a civil-war/coup de ta that caused a ton of people to die via starvation and dehydration in Alabasta.

Like, the WG is correct: Nico Robin and Bon Kurei were fucking terrorists in Alabasta. The Marines like Tashigi had every reason to try to stop Robin's insane bullshit. That's why I like Oda's writing: he understand people have both good and evil in them. They're not mutually exclusive.

If Kaido knew Newgate was close to death, why would he choose to fight Newgate over the... 3 Navy Admirals that Newgate couldn't kill?

If Kaido wanted to die in battle in Marineford, he would have fought the Marines, not his dying former Nakama.

Also, have you ever considered this:

That Kaido wanted to save Newgate, his Nakama?

Shamrock is another petty little sociopath just like 99% of all Celestial Dragons. Loki could have been an impeccable gentleman in his refusal and he and Gunko still would have mauled him because they're little shits like that. Also, what about him wanting to make a game about kidnapping children?

And while I doubt Kaido really liked *anyone* from Rocks, he could at least work with Big Mom due to their similarly greedy personalities. A relative goody two shoes like Whitebeard? No way.

imo you shouldn't put to much faith in shamrock.

guy said loki was a weakling and could never beat him. Then tried to kill loki while he was changed down and defenseless. showing he actually a coward. If he was good he would have unchained loki first. Then duel loki in a death match.

To be fair it is implied that Shamrock... "forcefully impregnated" Ginny and willingly let Saturn use her as a test monkey

That's someone getting their skull caved in by teen Loki and getting a scar. :PepeJoker:

He will be a fine addition to the crew, we just need to find a job for him.
ANALogous to The Horn Man obviously

I think Garling kidnapped Ginny, and then gave her to another family.

Shamrock has lot of aura, I don't think he'd rape a woman.

Gunko is a Brook-aligned character, and Brook is a true gentleman (besides fiending for Linlin's panties).

Gunko respects the heck out of Shamrock, which makes me think Shamrock is a lot like Brook:

A flawed gentleman.
