And this chapter damn near makes it look like the Admirals are really just that. The feat of killing an Admiral was reserved for the PK's greatest foe that canonically was put even above Primebeard.

Also if you want to say that killing and defeating makes a difference in diff then I can tell you that that's wrong. Akainu defeated Aokiji and could've killed him but spared him. It would've made absolutely no difference to the diff it took to win.

Roger never got sole credit of defeating Xebec.

Credit was shared by Garp and Roger and they were near or in their prime.

And, Sengoku further cemented this by saying Roger's strongest foe which means we can safely assume Xebec was stronger than any pirate we have seen so far - including Prime WB.

It depends on the state youre in, Akainu was extremely injured and was said to be extremely injured. If new up and comer Rocks who didnt make a name of himself yet killed an admiral then its hype for Rocks.
