it will also neatly parallel the nika fruit as its been sought after by the WG for years, with the Yami yami no mi being sought after for almost 100 years

I also want to add, if Rocks is still alive inside of Teach it would make sense Teach would kill thatch out of desperation instead of maybe trying to convince him to give him the fruit.

Nobody can really compete with Vergo in his combo of style, skill, aura and still being somewhat goofy and gag worthy. Perhaps Doffy can match him in aura at times, but no one can really imagine Doffy being able to act classy, dude will stand on the table.

If I have to guess then during Reverie, Xebec learnt about IMU and his powers.

Perhaps he seek those power for himself....and, during that search he came across a taboo curse which he used it to self insert himself in his son - he appears to be a Maniac who had ambition to become The king of the World, so I seem him pulling something like this just for the sake of his own ambitions

Actually this dynamic is Luffy vs both Kid and Law

Law got a powerful DF, but was basically an orphan. His parents were a bunch of nobodies. And he had no training outside some basics by the donquixote family.

Luffy has nepotism haki and training from Rayleigh, not to mention divine plot armor.
