Honestly, I think Xebec's finger move oddly resembles Law's. What if Xebec had the Ope Ope no Mi before Law?

@Roo @park_min young @MonochromeYoru
People want to focus on the powerscaling stuff which is fine but him having the OP OP No Mi opens a huge can of worms lore wise. Biggest being the possibility of him still being alive. For example what if he swapped bodies during god valley and escaped? what if he managed to insert his soul into his sons body?

It also adds irony that BB fought the DF his dad had

possibly, but I don't think there's any panel of the Rocks duo being clueless about Law's fruit. Even the quote you posted can be read as Kaido always having an issue with the OP OP fruit
I mean the ope ope no minis a famous fruit so I doubt they are clueless of the abilities. It’s just the fact that Kaido has problems with it makes me doubt he’s physically seen its use for a decade

To be fair, I doubt Xebec ever fought serious around Linlin and Kaido.
Only time was in God valley and probably both been knocked out before seing Xebec true power.

Also Roger crew know his power too yet im sure they would still have problems to handle it.

Blackbeard not really caring about Ope is the issue though, he coveted Boa’s fruit more than the former lol. Maybe Xebec had Boa’s fruit 😂

In all honestly, a new fruit is also most likely. Ope ope doesn’t suit Xebec, he’ll most likely have a pure offensive df.
Imo he was after the yami yami no mi so he prob doesnt have one

unless Xebec already had a fruit he passed unto Teach

Rocks’ being Buggy’s father is actually more interesting.

I’m not a fan of Buggy and BB being brothers though.

I would’ve preferred Rocks to be much smaller in stature and for Blackbeard to have inherited his large frame and hippo looks from his Buccaneer mom of the D Clan.
I feel the same. But I think Oda wanted to make Teach’s place in the story stronger and more clear-cut. If he wasn’t Xebec’s direct descendant, he would’ve just been like Loki.
The only way to make Teach stand out from other potential Xebec admirers was to make him his son.
That also helps explain why the Level 6 criminals from Impel Down decided to follow him so quickly. And it was already obvious that Teach wasn’t following in Xebec’s footsteps by coincidence, unlike Luffy who’s unknowingly walking Roger’s path.
