Yeah, he’s definitely not as bad based on these interactions. He is definitely a real-life pirate though, dude’s an anarchist and doesn’t give a shit about civilians. WB protects the weak so this is still uncharacteristic of him.
Rocks is likely similar to Zoro and Loki where they're introduced as bad and menacing dudes (with Loki being said to have committed patricide which is a major moral crime) but in reality they're not that bad. They'll do some bad things but are generally good people with good intentions
Then again, Rocks is Teach's father, so he's definitely still a horrible guy in some ways
So Xebec is willing to use hostages against Imu but people think there’s no way him vs the admiral had any shenanigans at all, on top of the admiral being restricted. People think Xebec just had to do a fair 1v1 against this one admiral for his honor or something

WB always had an identity crisis. He wanted a family, but ditched Stussy and built a Yonko crew instead. Man probably never knew what he really wanted in life.
