All the run down middle east countries have something in common:
Iranian influence and russian protection.

Who the fuck is Assad? Dude is a clown and for years can't find any way to run up his country.
And having Iranian proxies is as terrible as it can get, because Iran doesn't shy away from running down their neighbourhood countries.

Give the country to the islamists or the jews and it will do better.

Where is Assad ? Is he safe or is he gone hiding in Iran ?
He gone hiding into either Dubai or Iran.

Allegey his plan was summoning all the soldiers in Damascus and make long heavy fight that extend months, enter negotiations with Turkey and Russia to carve out Latakia and creat a mini alawite state in exchange for handing over Damascus

It's all gone to trash.

Not many seriously really fought for him

Apparently he keep begging foreign powers to help

He approached Trump to cancel ties with Iran and Russia in exchange for Keep ruling Syria.

What a pathetic man that being power slut till the end

He wasn’t controlling much though right ? Anyway, this might look better though this probably will hardly be a democracy

Yeah. He can only control 2/3 of the country by Russia and Iran help.

Iran wasted 80 billions for nothing in Syria.

Well. It will take time. Everyone will need to negotiate. Too many different groups and fragile dynamics still in play

Who are even these rebels exactly ? I read they were ex-djihadists but also that they were kinda backed by Erdogan. Their leader is anonymous for some reason… :kriwhat:

There's many rebels

Mainly
Turkey back the Syrian National Army

US back the Kurds

HTS leader Jolani is ex Al Qaeda that broke away with Al Qaeda in 2010s. His name is Jolani

He was basically rebranded as "moderate* rebels.

Of course the ideological link is there, but in idlib he definitely evolved a lot, he still managed a somewhat stable governance despite constant bombardment by regime backers

Whether that will transfom into national level remain to be seen.

He definitely needs to improve regarding appeasement and dissidents politics

They are islamists trained and educated by the west. Alot of young fellas that learned from their predecessor's mistakes and now have their ideologies evolved.

They probably got sponsored by good ole' musk or so. Starlink and such. Super well organized and such.

Not surprising, their goal is Greater Israel which would come at the expense of lands in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Egypt, parts of Saudi and parts of southern Turkey. When you have buffoons like Smorsrich or however tf you spell his name in Netanyahu’s cabinet they’ll push for this joke of a pipe dream even harder. In the end they’ll just ignite a unified Middle Eastern front that will end their colonial project while pursuing these delusions.

News of HTS' moderation is true but greatly exxagerated a lot of people are under the impression that Jolani will be secular or secular adjacent. They've moderated from Al Qaeda (Although their official telegram praises Usamah bin Ladin for time to time) but they are still surooris at the very least. HTS applied all hudood punishments (stoning for adultery, lashes for alcohol, etc.) in idlib except the punishment of amputation for theft. They will probably allow democracy but an illiberal islamist one such that proposed by the like of Abu Ala al Mawdudi or Abu Basir Al Tartusi.

Here is Jolani's Mufti of Aleppo mentioning how HTS applies Hudood in Idlib.

Nah bro, its a safe country now and very liberal and moderate and what not.
All is well and finally the big baddie Assad is gone and peace can return. Praise the lord.

I had a healthy laugh when they pixelated out foreign minister and refused to shake her hand.
Its cool though. Best not shock the Syrian public with footage of that hideous daft sow when they are used to seeing the baddie Asma al Assad on TV.

Asma was ugly as fuck and Bashar deserved to lose for being so rtrdd. Jolani quite literally did everything better than him. He was the uncharismatic middle child who only got the job because his older brother Bassel died in a high speed car chase high out of his mind without wearing a seatbelt
