Betting against Roger is not wise. I'd suggest waiting for GV and beyond before claiming anyone but Imu was stronger than Roger. Even if Rocks ends up looking superior on GV I'd be surprised if Oda doesn't give Roger some kind of out.
Letting go of Roger being the strongest makes little sense when just a couple arcs ago Oda went through the trouble of having Kaido reiterate Roger as the highest ceiling and the man who transcended everyone with his haki alone.
Roger is the gold standard for a reason; Oda will show y'all eventually.
I’m not betting against Roger. I’m just stating what Oda have done since Oden’s flashback.
Roger is the golden standard because of his pirate’s accomplishments (being the PK) not his strength. And that’s okay. As the story as shown, Roger did not need to be the strongest to accomplish his goal.
I think that people waiting for God Valley to somewhat prove that Roger was the strongest of the strongest (or to see any conclusive fights) are in for a rude awakening seeing how Oda is writting fights nowadays. If Oda draw more than one clash between Roger and Xebec we should be happy.
Concerning Kaido, his words are his and i’m not convinced that we are supposed to take them at face value ( especially since Oda introduce magic and Kaido knew none about that, showing that he did not know everything about the world).
Wait and see but Joy Boy, Imu and Xebec killed the idea that Roger was ever the strongest for me.
