I legit don't care about his strength or anything.
I just feel like the Roger from the early days had such a different vibe compared to how he really was. Maybe this is just a narrative framing device - we used to think Roger had to be this mythical figure, when really, he was just a dude similar to Luffy.
Even then... old Roger just had a different feel to him. I miss those days.
Well it kinda depends? Oden was about to turn Kaido into ham and he was the 4th on Roger's crew. I dread what Roger might have done to Kaido. Or look at Big Meme.
On the other hand, it's unlikely the C3 are any below prime Garp who matched Roger. Given those busted fruits and their versatility. Kuzan going at it in a punching contest against The Fist and Kizaru feeding a Yonkou and looking completely fine ar the end of the arc.
Oda is hyping old gen,...but this chapter just showed us they are just frauds....We try to scale current gen to old gen..but its actually that the old gen is much weaker than current gen
Ngl.
Of all the characters you people would choose to "dehype", choosing freaking Roger out of all of them is legit insanity.
You guys take these "fun chapters" from Oda WAY too seriously LMAO.

A man must preserve his aura at all times. Never appear weak, event against a child, go all out. Never joke, never jest, never show emotion, never be struck, never speak unless you're uttering some line about wild animals and demon kings before exterminating your foes in maximum style. Vulnerability is unacceptable, quirkiness is a sin, jovialness is weakness and flaws are for the losers. Smoldering stoicism, complete control and absolute domination are the only acceptable states a character is allowed to exist in. That is the way of a true conqueror, but a terribly boring "character", thankfully Oda doesn't follow these rules and is actually a capable writer.
This was always the case tbh. Strength isn't the issue, its the actions these characters take. I always though if someone like BM managed to get one piece she would be objectively strong enough to defend it at her Tot Land empire and she would legit be the Pirate King.
