Theory Mihawks "Great Betrayal" was the Marines destroying his Dojo.

We know Mihawk sailed the sea and hunted the Marines because they seemingly betrayed him. But what if it wasn't him that got betrayed but rather the Marines under the orders of the World Government failing to uphold an agreement?

We know Mihawk had been training at a young age, similar to Zoro. so it's possible that he could have also trained at a Dojo learning his Sword techniques. We also know that some Dojo's possess legendary and well-known swords. Like the one Zoro trained at.

So what if the Dojo that Mihawk trained at had a Sword that either the Marines or the World Government wanted? And instead of asking for it, simply took it and destroyed the Dojo or even the entire Village?

If they had sworn to protect the Village and the Dojo and they betrayed that and destroyed it instead, would that be a good enough reason for Mihawk to hunt down the Marines responsible for it?

Wrong. Mihawk's "Great Betrayal" was the Marines exposing to the whole world that Mihawk achieved his black blade by painting Yoru black instead of turning it naturally black with haki like Ryuma. :myman:

Some things are certain:

1. Mihawk had a "great betrayal", and he held a grudge against the marines.

2. Mihawk stopped hanging around ANYBODY ELSE at some point (he works with Croc, but it took a lot of convincing for him to do it).

It seems like someone close to Mihawk was killed. He failed to protect them, and now he's like Dragon where he pretends he has no relationship with anybody out of fear they will be used against him.

Maybe he too, like zoro had a captain he put his dream on hold for? IDK there are no real hints to it... but might be cool

The betrayal must have to do with his homeland. The place is in complete ruins and there's this big wooden cross that Mihawk also uses as his symbol (sword, boat, knife).

Maybe Mihawk was a bounty hunter and on good terms with the Marines then then he got backstabbed by them for some reason resulting in his homeland's destrcution.

My head canon is Mihawk trained his entire life to fight Roger or Rocks to prove he was the definitive WSS.

But since Rocks died in GV and Roger died by execution he didn't get a chance to prove himself, so he had the closest thing to Roger is Shanks, until he lost his arm and once again he has no rival waiting for Zoro to supersede him.

Trained his whole life to achieve the feat that only Ryuma managed to centuries ago*

Mihawk was I think 20 yrs old when Roger died. He is delusional if he thought he could beat any of the titans of new world at 20yrs old. People don't peak that you early in one piece. It's only Luffy and the main cast.

I don't see why not Zoro was foolish enough to think he could beat Mihawk when he was 19, Luffy thought he could beat Aokiji at 17. It didn't happen but in their minds they believed they could win.

That's the main cast dude. The Mihawk we saw at the Rogers execution didn't even have any Aura. God Valley happened 38 yrs ago. Mihawk is like 44. Mihawk was under 5-7 years old when Rocks died. You really that Mihawk "was training all his life to defeat Rocks and prove he is the greatest swordsman?"

This glazing needs to stop.

You really need to read it the manga properly

Got it. So my idea doesn’t work because it only works for the main cast no one else, additionally Mihawk’s “aura” … isn’t that great… :seriously:

It’s just a head canon nothing all that serious.

No it doesnt work because Mihawk was in diapers when Rocks died lol. He was a literal toddler so your idea for training all his life is trash tbh.
