Just look at the pre TS.

The Government was Machiavellian, the end justifying the means, but It was not this fucking plain absurd evil.

Gorosei were even sad they had to destroy Ohara. Now they would probably laugh about It lol.
Yeah. The depiction of the World Government went downhill after the World Nobles were introduced. It only removed any interesting moral ambiguity from the story by making the opposition cartoonishly evil. The fact that the marines played a part in killing God Valley's natives just flushes anything good Garp ever said about them. So him wanting Ace, Luffy and Dragon to be marines now looks even dumber in retrospect.

Precisely.

It doesn't make any sense that good people are working for this absolute evil with the fucking devil as the ruler.

The perfect villains for a cartoonishly retarded protagonist with literal cartoon powers
A cartoonishly retarded protagonist who idolizes a cartoonishly retarded legend who simps for a mid-tier Hancock/Nami clone, and who has been dethroned as a major legend in the story by a cartoonishly retarded deity, who is himself about to be dethroned by a cartoonishly evil but retarded version of Davy Jones himself.

The Power Creep Piece is real.

To be honest, you would be surprised how cartoonishly evil people are in the real world. I was not a fan of the world nobles in the beginning because of this, but as time flows I understand why Oda introduced them.

But then the same Saturn said the "all humans are insect" line, and so much more.

Warcury at least said that.

And Mars have no reason to kill One working for them, but then again said Kaku was an insect.

Now they don't even pretend.
It's so annoying. Saturn and the Gorosei were ruthless, but level-headed, but then the world nobles come in and over the decade they get progressively more inconsistent in their evil, with even Saturn seeming reasonable initially and even sparing Bonney, only for Oda to do a 180 by not only making Saturn a literal demon, but making him the dude responsible for killing Bonney's mother, giving Bonney sapphire scales, and her DF power because 'fuck it why not'.

And you're right, our world is fully of cartoonishly evil weirdos, but most of them at least try to give a presentable public image to fool the dumber masses, but the World Nobles though are going around enslaving people, shooting people at random, committing mass genocides on nations every few years for sport, and demanding islands to hand over exorbitant amounts of gold for their celestial tribute if they want marine protection, and they do all of this in PLAIN SIGHT, which is another thing that makes Garp's defense of the marines look even dumber now by comparison, and there's no way the WG bothers to cover this up because the CD never bother to hide their cartoonishly evil tendencies.

At least Oda made Captain Kuro's persona of Klahadore believable back when either he or his editors gave a darn.

The random World Nobles were probably raised into thinking the lower realm was filthy and that they needed those space suits to protect themselves.

The Elders and the God's Knights were either taught that those were all bs and that they didn't actually need a suit.

Or they were taught that unlike the other World Nobles, they themselves were way more special lol.

Although I do find it interesting that Killingham is so far the only God's Knight that wears a space suit.
Yeah, but this is the post hoc/in universe explanation.

What actually happened is that the Gorosei were first shown in like, 2002, when we first see a CD in like 2008.

Btw, it's kind of weird that Warcury is based on a kind of contemporary figure when first introduced, Gorbachev. Though his moustache is kind of more like Stalin, I guess
