The power of the buccaneer clan is love. That is what Kuma’s entire character revolves around.
But can we really say that is the driving motivation of the Davy clan? The Davys are associated with Buccaneers, yet we don’t have outright confirmation that they are buccaneers.
What I can say is that Teach is far from the family man Kuma is. Whereas Kuma gave everything for his family, Teach murdered his father and brother(WB and Thatch) for DFs.
Teach having the power of love just doesn’t make sense.
Rather, I think it makes more sense if the Davys, while similar to the buccaneers, were a distinct group. This explains why Rocks is as big as Roger and even Teach, who is large, is still only half the size of Kuma.
And that while Buccaneers derive power from love, Davys derive power from hate. Teach gains power from his intense hatred of the CDs and his desire for revenge.
This is why the yami yami no mi is the most evil DF. Similar to how Loki’s fruit is meant for a giant, the Yami is meant for a Davy.
The Yami increases the pain a user can take. We saw with buccaneers that they can endure immense amounts of pain. Davys are similar and hence would be capable of taming the power of the yami.
But more than that, the pain the yami inflicts can be used to fuel the power of hatred. Kinda like how Darth Vader’s suit is intentionally painful for him.
Finally I want to talk about how the power of hatred could work. I think it’s possible that Sanji is a user of both love and hatred. Hell memories is clearly drawing power from Sanji’s hatred.
I think when someone like Teach uses power of hatred, they’d be ability to create something far stronger than Sanji’s moves. They’d be able to create their own sun, like is shown on the left hand side of the Harley.
A perfect mother flame. Something that can power ancient weapons. If Luffy is the Sun God of liberation, Teach is another sun god. The Sun God of destruction.
