What was the last movie you watched?

I watched Superman. I like the stuff they built around empathy and that even the best and the strongest are weak. But as for the anti-libertarian part, I still prefer Alien. But very refreshing to get something as much inclined toward empathy.
Superman is more anti-imperialist than anti libertarian I would say. But I'm glad you liked it !

I didn't mind about the movie starting in a middle of a fight. Although I didn't understand why the armor from the beginning disappeared on the clone. And how Superman's character is incredibly dumb to not notice the cameras flying around these machines since the very beginning...
For the armure, I think it's first because
luthor wanted to hide the identity of ultraman from superman, which became a bit useless after a while. Also it was mostly a communication propaganda to show that Boravia had a strong bulk "very tanky" super-hero "the hammer". As for camera, I think he is just not focusing on them, he probably just think they are accessories, for him the hammer is alone at first.

I liked James Gunn Superman. Peak fiction

Yeah I mean you can notice the cameras from the first fight. Even Goofy isn't that much asleep during a fight.

I said anti libertarian because Lex is so powerful he was about to crown himself like a colonial company--- indeed. But both are connected for me. Especially in extremely libertarian cases like this one or Alien.

Going to try to watch Tron: Ares, Roofman and Good Fortune ASAP. I've always skipped over on the Tron films for some reason but looking at the trailers for Ares and past stuff on Tron, I'm regretting it immensely now.

Got my eyes on Now You See Me 3 though especially when it comes out. I was excited by a new Running Man film but I'm not sure on it so far from what I've seen. A lot of these reboots/remakes or w/e suck so much and I was not impressed by the trailer so far. Might be a surprise hit though.

Can't wait for the 2nd FNAF film in a couple months now, it looks extremely promising and the 1st one was WAY better than I ever expected it to be and had a genuinely really emotional moment and storyline at least. Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) was the perfect casting too.

Batman Returns from Tim Burton.

Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny Devito were both very memorable as Catwoman and Penguin respectively, with Catwoman being so sensual while Penguin was both pathetic and disturbing.

Max Schrek is less memorable but Christopher Walken still did a remarkable job with his character.

And of course Michael Keaton and Pfeiffer had great chemistry together.

All in the unique mix of dark and silly and gothic ambience of Tim Burton's universe.

Watched Roofman, not sure how to feel about it tbh. Quite a tragi-comedy, character study of a film. I expected a sombre ending but seeing it happened and how far Channing Tatum's character fell, idk it just hit hard somehow.

People were awkwardly laughing at the ending, I'm not sure if it was out of confusion like how I felt or they found it genuinely funny in a dark humour, ironic sort of way, but it just made it even worse for me and I just walked out feeling perplexed and feeling it was anticlimatic.

I have to say Channing Tatum, Kirsten Dunst, Peter Dinklage etc were genuinely great in it. Some pretty funny and even the odd emotional parts too.

I felt there were some big plot holes and I didn't like it glossed over him trying to see his actual daughter and thus her being cut from the rest of the film, it avoided some cliches in that regard and in general but that ending just left me feeling hollow.

Kirsten was too forgiving of what he did by the end of the film too, he really went down a dark path by then and did some irredeemable shit compared to what he was doing before. They avoided all the big drama/fighting with him and her but instead gave us a tonal whiplash reunion.

Channing bonding with Kirsten's daughters in the film was adorable, as well his own daughter too though.

I'm not sure if I made the right choice in what film to watch though, I feel I should have gone with my gut and gone for Tron Ares instead despite not seeing the previous films but oh well. After that ending and some very slow pacing in the beginning (people said the 2nd half was much slower but it was the exact opposite for me, it got much more interesting when he got into the Toys R Us and also when things escalated in the 2nd half), I just can't give this a higher than a 7 at best. A 6 to 7, that's all.

When he got into the Toys R Us, there was some pretty funny and ridiculous scenes though. Also the scene of Kirsten trying to help co-worker deal with their shitty, heartless, bully of a boss and stand up to him went nowhere but the boss (played by Peter Dinklage) got brutally humiliated and suffered due to Channing "unintentionally" so there's that I guess lol.

The weirdest part was 6 people left the movie for some reason, 2 women walked out at first quite early on and then 4 young guys just walked out too much later on. I have no idea why, did the film bore or offend them that much?

So the weather wasn't any good during the weekend and I finally got to watch some movies:
- new DC Superman - ok superhero movie, tried and tested formula, nothing stands out but it's not that bad either
- MCU Fantastic Four - that was a fantastic disappointment, not even clumsily cute Pedro Pascal could save it
- F1 with Brad Pitt - the best movie out of three, A+ soundtrack, the racing was shot fairly well, and it's the first movie about racing that actually made me think how much of a team sport it is. Yes, all of us remember the drivers the most, they're like music band front men, but actually everyone is important, the engineering team, mechanics, it's not like a driver alone can make a miracle happen. So yeah, enjoyed it the most.

I liked that one more than the first Burton's Batman movie. I dunno, it kinds fits the comic vibe better, especially for those years.
Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman is still the best Live-Action Catwoman for me. She's exactly how I imagine the character.
