I imagine screaming “that thing’s on nobodies side” as Imu attacks pirates and marines both isa not very subtle way of putting across Imu’s lack of loyalty to anyone other than itself.

Looks like Imu just sees modern day people as the same as their ancestors/previous incarnations. Probably would just call Vivi Lily, and Luffy Joy Boy as well.

It‘s a shame Oda’s sort skipping past the fight for the treasure, because it would probably make an entertaining side story. It’s a bit Skypiea like. This really is a flashback where it could have been a proper arc in of itself. I’m still a bit surprised we are actually getting so much of God’s Valley anyway, but I do hope the anime expands on it, although it will probably just spend a fortune making all the attacks looks over the top instead.
