My biggest disappointment was with Shiki, Rayleigh, and Gaban. They’re just filler characters who had this one chance to show what they were capable of, and even then they didn’t do anything. Now it’s too late — we’re going to spend our whole lives speculating about their strength.
Same with Sengoku. I think Sengoku is a cool character, but honestly the lack of feats for someone in such a privileged position as Fleet Admiral is insane. He didn’t do anything to deserve it, and this was Oda’s chance to give the man something that would set him apart. However, we ended up with absolutely nothing about Sengoku — nothing about him fighting the old generation of pirates, nothing about him clashing with them. It’s all about Garp. Even when Shiki was involved, Garp still overshadowed him, 1x2.
He spent all of Marineford with his arms crossed doing nothing, and it was supposed to be his retirement arc. He gave Akainu and the other Admirals the chance to shine, but Sengoku didn’t get anything like that. Honestly, this Silver Axe guy and some of Xebec’s pirates could have been captured by the Marines and used as a feat for Sengoku — nobody would complain — and at least it would be something for him. But not even that Oda can do, man.

Bro the entire Xebec wank comes from 1 line of Sengoku where he said PERHAPS he was Roger's strongest foe, and it's clear this entire time Oda was talking Imu-controlled Xebec at GV.

I've been saying this for the longest time: Whitebeard had the most destructive power/offence, but Kaido had the strongest defence (durability/endurance). And that is what makes Kaido win 1 on 1.
When WB was introduced, what was the most hype thing about him? It was that he ostensibly had the power "to destroy the world". It wasn't his durability, since even Squard stabbed him, but his ability to destroy shit.
But Kaido's introduction was entirely different. Oda wasn't emphasizing his destructive ability, but his defence. Everyone tried to kill him. No one could. Not even himself. His "hobby" was suicide.
And that is why Kaido always wins in a pure 1 on 1. He just outlasts everyone.
