Speculations Novices Can’t Control the Amount CoC They Use

#1
Gaban told Luffy the secret to defeating immortality is to be mindful of the way he uses Conqueror’s Haki

I think he said this because Luffy an Zoro don’t know how to control the quantity of Conqueror’s they put into attacks. Zoro didn’t even know he could use Conquerors:

If his Conquerors isn’t tamed that implies he can’t control it well or at all. Kaidou also implied Luffy was still a novice with Conquerors.

Luffy’s control is probably better than Zoro’s, but still not perfect.

The reason this is important goes back to Roger and Garp’s discussion on Haki Mass. Luffy and Zoro need to be able to control their Conquerors good enough to put in enough mass to overcome Regen, but not too much to the point that they kill themselves.

I can see that

With Luffy he might not put enough juice into his attacks in order to damage immortals and Zoro puts too much in which is why he can only use KoH for a short time

I’d imagine for Luffy being able to change the mass in his attacks would probably raise his AP significantly

For Zoro he’ll probably be able to reduce the strain of KoH by limiting the “mass” he puts into it. Maybe he’ll eventually reach a point where he can change it quickly so for his most powerful attacks he’s only at the “limit” for a very short time

Haki mass is simply using a certain amount of haki. This should be very basic imo. Every character should have control over how much haki they use in any given attack. Think about chakra from Naruto.

On paper they should but I wonder if that's actually the case?

I think the only time haki has ever been given an actual "amount" is when people talk about your "pool" of haki or rather that it's finite

Like G4 or Zoro with Enma. They talk about how you have a certain amount you can expend before you're out of juice

But I don't think they've ever said anything about an "amount" that you can put in your attacks or use for defense

If you think about it (and this is Oda's fault) we still don't know that much about haki. It isn't uncommon for an author to introduce certain aspects of a power system as the series goes on but yeah. We just don't know that much

Or rather the characters don't actually discuss the ins and outs of haki very often

G4 is an example of using higher haki volumes in short time so luffy can control his haki reserves.

But that could stem from him coating more of his body with haki, no?

We're told that covering a specific part of your body is wiser than covering your entire body (at least on paper)

Though I can't remember if that's because it spreads your armament thin or because haki is finite

But iirc G4 isn't stronger because he's coated in armament that's superior to his regular armament

It's the conjunction of armament and rubber with him blowing up his muscles that makes it stronger

Bolded is not stated anywhere imo.

Yes but luffy is using more amount of haki in one go also hence he becomes stronger.

Shanks still cant control his coc outbursts and targets allies, so its not just novices.

What Garp and Roger did is a feat that goes beyond yonko level.

Yes but even in Naruto its stated not even jonins could emit their chakra from every chakra point and its a feat for higher level Hyuga clan fighters. Its simple chakra control on paper yet totally different story in practice.

So far this feat is unique to Roger and Garp and just because its " simple " in your headcanon does not mean every top tier can leech of it.
