Let's say a dad divorces a mom, and the mom gets custody of their child when he is 5 years old. That child is 15 now. His mom goes out to the grocery store. He come out of his bedroom room and trip on the stairs, twisting his ankle in the process. He calls out "Mom! Mom, help!" to no avail, because she isn't there right now.


Why, in this scenario, did the child assume his mother might be home, but not his father?
