Bro he is controlling it already when he is using KoH or when he was finishing of Lucci or clashing with Nasujuro.
It is the reason that Gaban said that Zoros body seems at ease with it. It was a shock for Gaban to learn that Zoro was using CoC without knowing it and hence would be unable to counter HK regen knowingly.

Its like using armor piercing rounds but not knowing that they would also work against some armor.

Zoro though unknowingly can utilise full extent of his Conqueror. We alresdy got Haki mass attaxk from him in King of Hell state.

What can surpass that? We already saw he is quite strong at base in Egghead and elbaf.

Other versions of Conqueror can him give him " Power ups ". Like CoC barrier and Future sight Canceling.
