First episode was a pretty good horror episode (the score was a bit overdone though imo) almost regardless of the concept in itself.
Second episode had to deal with and expand the concept a bit more, and to be honest, it was lackluster.
Of course Gilligan deserves the benefit of the doubt but I can´t see how it should be enough for 4 seasons unless you get into the alien stuff.

Overall a 8/10 mostlye because of the last season.
Explanation below
The Byrdes ended the show unscathed. The only loss they had was Ben, who was a one-season character anyway. Imo that is a really unrealistic end to the show where characters were dying left and right due to the choices they made. And often choices others made for them.
Yes, arguably the Byrdes didn't make it out and that is their punishment. They'll continue to do this for God knows how long.
But they got out of thight spots one too many times for us to believe the tension in season 4.
A Deus Ex Machina always saves them at the expense of other characters. Meanwhile Ruth lost everybody except Three and ends up dying herself. Kinda an overkill by the writers.
Some really great performances. Jason Bateman can do drama as well, though there's always a comedic lining to his actions and lines imo. Maybe it's just me.
His wife reached King Joffrey levels of animosity for me. Lady Macbeth x 1000. I guess kudos to the actress because my God what an absolutely insufferable character.
Great performances by the actors and actresses playing Ruth and Wyatt Langmore, Darlene Snell, the FBI agent in season 1, and many more.
Also what was the point of Three Langmore? Lmao. Is the actor the son of one of the producers or something? Bro appears a handful of times and never when anything important is happening. He just spawns randomly at his house, and equally randomly despawns.
