The current administration is extremely unpopular right now and their militarization of ICE is losing them a lot of ground with voters
Will it happen? I don’t know. It all depends on the next administrations political power. I think at the very least we will see a massive gutting of the organization to satisfy voters. People care about border control, but not to the point where their neighbors are getting murdered

Current world order is screwed. The USA and China are too corrupt and bloated to succeed.
Both countries are collapsing slowly for the same two reasons: failure to invest in the country's people, and obsession with global politics.
The USA and China INVEST like crazy, but in freaky ass projects rich people want, not in reality. Both the American and Chinese people DO a ton of great work, but, leadership is such ass that often the workers half ass it, or have their work used badly.
Take Venezuela. One of the biggest reasons we're there, is because oil companies invested in Venezuela years ago, and have unused/badly used property/rigs sitting over there. Do I get why they want to make good on their investment? Yeah. Is it their fault for investing in shitty crude oil that's hard to work with, rather than invest in energy policies that don't fuck up the planet we live on? Yes yes yes.
China's built SOOO much, and, half the time it's unused because their leadership is such horse and pony nonsense.
The fact that these two countries are so tied to each other's economic downfalls via manufacturing on China's end and China helping the US manage its RIDICULOUS, terminal federal debt IMO guarantees we're going to see a big crash in the next two decades.
The biggest difference is that China has been investing very well in the last decade globally, and is amazing at letting its enemies make mistakes, and poking those mistakes in the right direction so China benefits.
Trump and his delusional horde of ghouls are so openly destroying the US's wealth in a manner more similar to Russia. The big differences are:
1. the USSR was hated by most of the 1st World. The USA was beloved (for money) by the 1st World for a long time, because we made those hoes bank.
2. The USA government doesn't have control over the country the way the Russian government does over Russia.
There are plenty of evil people in the USA smart enough to realize Trump is fucking the money and the entire country up. Sure, the Tech Bros running a good chunk of Trump's presidency have a good sale's pitch to the elite:
Crash the country, then rebuild it as a group of techno-states run by the ultra rich. Divide the country into their own little Dystopian Country Clubs.
The idea is good for evil rich people on its head, but, at some point you have to ask yourself: "Are these delulu fools actually capable of running something like that, when they're this shite at everything else?"
As the ultra rich realize what kind of hole Trump is digging them, they'll less willing to support him. We already see this a decent amount.
They bit off way more than they could chew, and they're choking on it.
