I feel like the whole Alex Pretti thing genuinely radicalized me.
I remember in the past when I said the German students who spoke up against Hitler and were executed died pointless deaths.
I take that back. Being a coward is selfish. There is nothing wrong with being selfish, to a degree. But if everyone was selfish all the time, what kind of world would we have?
Some things are worth dying for. Alex Pretti was a citizen, and a white man at that. He didn’t need to protest ICE, as they weren’t after him. He did it because he knew it to be right, and he died because of it. Because of his actions Trump was forced to ease his grip on Minnesota. He helped countless people because he did what he knew to be right, in spite of it costing his life.
I think I might actually go to a protest for the first time in my life. It does make a difference when people stand up for what they believe in, even when the result isn’t immediate.
