As in since the start of journey with same abilities? Comparable to zoro. I think he was 4th-5th popular in popularity polls in some regions. He was no.2 in popularity poll during dressrossa arc.

As the guy above already said; Zoro's purpose in the story is pure popularity to the point where he literally contends with the MC despite having less than half the screen time.

There is no need for buts and ifs

Depends on his role

if he maintains the same role he had in PH and Dressrosa as the 1B of the story obviously he does

if he took on a Jinbe like role where he’s just there? Prob drops below Sanji and Nami for the most part

If he was in the story from the beginning? Like maybe replaces chopper? Clear number 4. Competes with Sanji and Zoro depending on his role during arcs

Law's been practically a SH since PH. Even if he were a SH, you can't make Law more popular than PH/Dressorossa Law, where his role outshined that of even Luffy---something that almost never happened with the other SHs.

So he'd be nearly as popular as Luffy/Zoro but still below them. Definitely more popular than the rest.

Law placed in the top 10 in a popularity poll just off his Sabaody appearance, where all he basically did was sit and smile in a few panels. So he's gonna be up there regardless with more panel time. Whether him or Zoro place higher depends on who gets the bigger role in a given arc.

Law joining the strawhats would be terrible for his character though, he'd suffer the same fate as the rest and become a filler character. Right now Law has impact on the world because he's not a Strawhat.

Yes and No.
If Law existed in the crew from chapter 3 and Zoro joined later on, then yes he would be more popular.

If he came in the crew in the middle of series, then no he won't be popular because oda would change his style of writing around Law.

The only reason Law is so popular currently is because of the fact that he has more freedom due to not being in the crew. If Law was in the crew, Oda would write him just like bums on the crew and taking away his freedom.

More popular than zoro not likely but he'd probably be even more popular than he ever was. He has a cool abilities and design he'd be popular whenever oda decided to introduce him.

Huge part of law's popularity is he can operate outside of the sh's and can majority effect the world. Law is a leader of the new generation. If he's shackled to luffy and the sh's his role in the story gets drastically reduced to the number 2 or 3 person behind luffy. Zoro was always popular because from the beginning in was already joining luffy and being like the vc of luffy being on a the same level as him. If law had join in or around when zoro joined then law probably would be the most popular character because he would have been the strongest sh. As the characters got stronger over time the popularity would have changed.
