The last two arcs are doing a fuck ton for lore but have been pretty disappointing to me in terms of resolution on characters.

Like Egghead had all this Kizaru hype with 9 Vice Admirals and then all 10 of them essentially do not much. Then Saturn dies yeah but is immediately replaced by Garling.b

Here we have 3 Knights but given Saturn even if they are defeated it looks like Imu can just replace them anyway.

It was more exciting to me when Shamrock was here and Imu wasnt controlling a body. It felt like there was meant to be a bit more emotional stake here with this given how involved Shanks was in the FB too.

Im hoping this happens now given that they just lost the ship, so either Imu calls forward more knights or they are dumb enough to think that 3 Knights can handle Luffy/Loki and the crew. Like Gunko isnt Rocks and Harald is dead.

It seems it wasn't clear enough when Oda showed the HKs as Revolutionaries' opponenets, and wasn't enough even when he showed HK were the Tobi Roppo of the WG.

When does this ever happen with Zoro? What manga are you reading lol...this happens in like 10% of Zoro's fights in this manga's 30 year history.

Those 10 percent are his relevant arc fights (King and Daz Bones). But yeah, it´s more likely Zoro does well initally then Sanji.

You´re just being overly reactionary here. We already know age has very little to do with how Oda views characters, and if Oda wants to hype Gaban to be a legend on the level of Roger, he´s going to make him look good, even going as far as to have Luffy and Zoro team up, and Nami say they were overwhelmed. Current Gaban would no diff Sanji just as bad, if not worse.

And holding off the Gorosei for brief moments means very little, the Gods Knights can probably do that, especially Gunko and Killingham with their DFs.

fighting the RA´s is going to be what the other HK do, not the three on the island, so I don´t see how that´s relevant.

Gaban would no diff current Sanji, but not when Sanji unlocks CoC, which Is what I suppose is going to happen.

I doubt Sommers or Killingham could stop Topman or cut Ju Peter in two. Maybe Gunko could have done some shenanigans with her fruit, but that's it.

Dorry and Broggy were already legendary captains with almost a 2B bounty each BEFORE being DRed, meaning before getting a power boost and immortality.

Sanji isn´t going to randomly unlock COC though, he´s going to need to be against a strong opponent for it to even make remote sense. In this case, to justify Sanji getting a powerup, his opponent should clearly be above current Sanji, and I don´t think this is just because of regen. Sommers is still someone who has been portrayed as an elite member of the Gods Knights since 39 years ago, and given that Killingham looks to be an awakened mythical zoan with a pretty crazy power, even if he isn´t given much story focus yet, he´ll probably give Zoro a good fight. They were ultimately sent to replace Shamrock, by Imu themselves(or the Gorosei or whatever, I don´t feel like checking). Obviously Oda doesn´t care about hyping villains who aren´t related to Goofy, but they aren´t going to be stomped by Zoro and Sanji.

The problem with Dorry and Broggy is they aren´t actual antagonists who need to be taken down in the same way. It seems way more likely Oda does some plot BS wrt that, or maybe Kidd comes back or something, or Idk, Loki. But Sommers and Killingham being actual villains makes them seem way more likely to fight the wings this arc. We can agree to disagree though.
