Carrot had set up by travelling with the crew to WCI and losing Pedro. But it turned out that she was just the editors fetish so he inserted her into the story more than she was supposed to be.

Bonney also makes sense with Kuma saving the crew 600 chapters ago, her having no where to go. But Oda now gonna revive Kuma, and Bonney's become less relevant than an extra this arc.

Yamato is just a stranger to the crew. They don't know her.

Lets go down the list

Momonosuke has an obligation to Wano as the Shogun and besides on a temporary basis he's not abandoning the country he fought for to become a pirate ful time

Carrot- While she could leave Zou in the hands of Wanda or one of the guardians i think adding someone who isn't a the very least on par with commanders is a mistake and she still has a lot to learn

Tama- She's a child and while her abilities would be extremely useful, I doubt Luffy would let her join his crew at this time maybe if she was a little older, but as of now no

Yamato- I'm under the personal belief Yamato is already a strawhat, she was asking to join all Arc and Luffy even accepted her request, there was never a moment in the manga or anime where it explicitly stated Yamato didn't join the crew but Yamato requested to stay on Wano to look after it's people, its not uncommon for Yonko to have one of its members as a guardian of an island thats under their protection,

Bonney- while I can see her joining in the future I think right now she'll stay with Lilith and Her father's body to try and restore him some how, once thats completed she'll become a cabin girl or something but as of now I don't see her just leaving Kuma after she spent 2 years trying to reunite with him

Even though I used to be a die-hard Yamato stan, I think Bonney would fit the best, both from perspective of character dynamic and from her strength (if anything, hanging around with Luffy's crew would fuel her creativity and cool usages of her DF, remember 2 Nikas?).

Yamato would be a great addition strength-wise, but I would prefer her to start her own journey, not as Oden wannabe (Wano has Momo now), but discovering who she is and what her dreams are now that Wano is free from Kaido. Unfortunately, she has 0 chemistry with the crew, and her Oden larping can be annoying.

Carrot had the best chemistry out of all the candidates imo, but she'd be absolutely lost in the background, since she's kinda weak for NW (remember Perospero "eat grass"?) and doesn't have a very distinguished trait. Also, her PU is very situational, needs some plot strings to get Sulong without the full moon. So imo Carrot would've been a fine addition sometime pre-TS to get better development. But yeah, at a certain point in WCI I was sure she's going to join, I understand barrel bros, the lead up was there.

Momo and Tama - no, they're kids. Even aged Momo is still as kid in an adult body and that would be creepy. You might want to argue that "but Bonney is also a kid", but she actually sailed the seas, alone and with a crew, and was notorious enough to get 100M bounty. Plus Bonney is what? About 12? While Momo and Tama are about 8? That's a big difference at that age.

Yamato and Bonney work the best out of the ones listed.

Yamato provides another powerhouse to the crew, pushing them into the stacked powerhouse zones of Roger Pirates, Rocks Pirates, Blackbeard Pirates. Giving them effectively 4 conquerors.

Bonney provides a youngin with immense potential and a powerhouse in her own right that already has ties to the captain through their fathers. While also being the only who can inherit an ability of Luffy's due to its uniqueness. And she should have conquerors as she matures, paralleling Shanks-Kaido for their respective crews.


Momo would've been valid but Oda took the perv gag too far.

Do you know what? I actually thought that it would have been amazing if the straw hats scouted Pedro, have him join only for him to die and as a result they end up with Carrot instead
