You´re mistaken, Sommers wasn´t shown mercy, he was simply a survivor, no one could kill him, not even himself.

Yea but we have 0 idea about the circumstances. Were they all face to face? Did they used to sneak?? Did they run away?? Did they bring the Marines too?? Etc etc

Roger killed squardo's crew because he insulted a friend iirc. They were trying to take shanks away from them. These were bloodlusted roger pirates most likely. Roger seem to be on friendly terms will WB and were more like frenemies. Roger wanted to drink with WB in shakky's bar for example.

That is what Squardo told us yes. But Squardo is a bum, to where Roger can swing a casual slash and his crew is cooked.

HKs for all we know could've been trying to get Shanks through sneaks or when Roger was busy or they were bringing in Marines alongside them. Completely different level of enemy.

Point isnt Roger wasnt trying. Point is we dont know the context of those interactions. Theres million ways to write HKs vs Roger pirates where HKs dont get killed and comeback for another time. Especially if its happening on the seas.

Only Imu and Loki have shown the capability to permanently take down a HK/Gorosei. All that everyone else has done is slow down/halt their regen and keep them down for a bit.
