It could show that he's a bit of a rebel and is looking into things he probably shouldn't. The OG Gorosei likely wouldn't have kids with a woman of the D, but Garling had interest. Though ultimately his goal is for him to have powerful kid soldiers for the government through like evil eugenics I guess. He doesn't seem like a full on *traitor*

Vahlok most likely jumped Miraak with allies. The shout we get from Vahlok's tomb is an ally buff shout. Probably some powerful dragons also aided Vahlok since Miraak was pretty anti dragons

There's also theories that HM aided Vahlok so he could get Miraak to apocrypha

I have seen the theories that the Dragon Priests came together to give Vahlok the Konahrik mask since Vahlok is the only DP with no unique mask. And I think that makes sense tbh.

I doubt HM aided Vahlok as there’s just no evidence for it but it’s possible I guess.

For one it states “The sea god raged!” Which was Poseidon after joyboys death the world flooded and people had to get on a ship. Which is what’s detailed for the second world here.
