It hasn't even remotely any narrative sense, building an entire chapter/cliffhanger on Zoro's supposed plan and how he executed it, while this should have been completely irrelevant.
It's basically lesson 1 in writing.

If that was the case, have simply Zoro confront them from the front and be done with it. You don't go around buliding plot on this.

It would not be dumb he literally does not know about the full terms of the ability. We as the readers dont even know the full temrs of imus ability, so to state that that would be dumb for a character in the manga not to know is whats really dumb to me lol.

It would be dumb supposing Oda spent an entire unnecessary chapter/cliffhanger on some completely useless plan when he could have had Zoro simply attacking from the front, yes.

There was no cliffhanger or plan, simply Zoro saying "attack when the flame is off". Solved in one scene and more so giving us the actual true answer, which applied in this case would be taking for true what Zoro told us: don't go between them or you get DRed.
