Also, I can't believe they asked Oda confirmation for:
- Kidd's DF --> John's DF
- Perona's DF --> Gill Bastar's DF
- Mr 5's DF --> Ganzui's DF

But didn't ask if Urouge's DF --> Kyo's DF

So the one visiting the Gorosei was Shamrock officially, not Shanks, so Shanks ratting on others is in the mud.

That being said, it being Shamrock actually doesn't really make sense tbh. If he's a holy knight, the leader that is,

1) why would he have to make a secret out of his meeting with that robe
2) why would the Gorosei say that someone of with his position shouldn't be involved in world politics and that they only made time because it's him
3) why would Shamrock talk about a "certain pirate" with the Gorosei? What pirate? Shanks? Why now? Or is it Loki to invite him to the HK? Though even then, point 1 and 2 makes no sense.

Imho oda retconned it being shamrock. It being shanks simply make more sense to me.

Oda was baiting too hard imo, but I don't think it's that crazy. They were having the reverie at the time, and the Cd's don't really participate in that, it's about the Kings and the Gorosei. But since Shamrock is like the commander or whatever, they'll hear them out. The pirate is probably Loki, yeah.

I’m guessing Oda was on the fence on whether he wanted Shanks to have an evil twin or be there himself so he went with a middle ground approach that let him put the decision off.

Iirc sandman said that’s why Oda does silhouettes for most characters too, he hasn’t finalized designs for them

Oda didn’t want to reveal the long hair, that’s all.

I think people throw around the word retcon too casually whenever something gets revealed. Oda himself said he forgot to tell the anime to use a different voice, and in retrospect the angling of his face was definitely intentional.
