What series are you watching ?

Okay, I've just finished watching the Young Sherlock series directed by Guy Ritchie and I gotta rant.

The idea seemed interesting at the beginning, but it went downhill for me very, very fast.

I'd say 5/10 (because I still watched it till the end) but damn, I prefer to think of it not as "Sherlock Holmes" but just some fanfic. To be fair, I am a big fan of OG Sherlock Holmes, so I can be quite touchy about the interpretations, but this version is anything but Sherlock, really.

Okay, the whole "no Watson, but Moriarty instead" was actually cool by me. Moriarty was the only character I enjoyed from the beginning to the end, and I liked how he was portrayed both similar and so different from Holmes.

The first three episodes were quite fun except for "let's blame a child for a death of another child" family drama resulting in "absent father, insane mother" tropes. But once it went into the specifics of that family drama plot, it just became worse and worse with every episode for me. Like "yes we have a convenient dead body of a small girl who is never mentioned again", and "yet another evil father" as well as "smart but actually dumb daughter who never thought to check her facts". Really, if not for Moriarty and Chinese "princess", I would never have finished the series.

On a bright side, it had good music. Reminded me of some of my fav songs, like "Special Needs" by Placebo.

@Yoho did you have a chance to view it or not yet?

Good to know! Please share your thoughts once you're done watching. For me, the beginning was really promising, but the later part was just a big nonono.

Hmm, now you made me interested in Alfred, is it really good?
