Zoro literally was holding back though. He never used ACoC on Egghead.
Is it stupid? Yes. Very much so. If I were in his shoes I'd have just used an ACoA+ACoC move to one shot Lucci from the jump then go to help Luffy and the others, but I guess Oda wanted to restrict him for the plot.
Which would sound a little crazy, but in that very same arc Oda just removed Luffy's ability to use G5 more than once just so Saturn can get some hype before Luffy got back up.

There was legitmately no need to put that line in, but I honestly think it´s fair to say after that, Zoro is probably less famous than even the likes of Kata or Doffy, which you can make of that what you want.

Imo Only Doffy, Kata got the same treatment like Zoro.

I very much hope Oda intends Blackbeard to be the FV. Imu just doesn't do it for me. I would love if Teach took him out alright, though One Piece is so Luffy centric that you shouldn't get your hopes up.

As for Akainu, he was the one who almost broke Luffy, the latter had a worse reaction to his name over even Blackbeard's. Akainu's fruit is tailor made to take out pirates. He lands a hit on someone even once, it could be critical. At Marineford you legit felt the stakes going up against him.

As much as I think this manga had a huge drop in quality in many points, I truly hope Akainu and Blackbeard will be portrayed as they rightfully deserve.

YC1 level characters are not fodder to anyone. Lucci says that what he saw of Zoro was worthy of being a yonko number 2 and we know that characters like Kuzan didn't make the N° 2 roster.
