There's nothing to hate apart from Rebecca :optimistic:
What an overstatement. The arc was 102 chapters long, there are sizable series with a solid beginning middle and end to their stories, covering multiple arcs, which don't even require 102 chapters. There are tons of reasons to hate Dressrosa, for the pacing alone. Reading that arc weekly was torture.

I don't see it, but also I didn't read it weekly, I binged it. It was extremely entertaining.

She's my third favorite behind Helmeppo and Perospero
Omg Yoho. You will be forgiven because of Perospero only...

You don't see how 102 chapters which includes focus on tontattas, Irrelevant coliseum fighters, only to offpanel Gear 4 vs awakened Doflamingo is a problem?

I mean objectively 102 chapters for a non series finale arc for a single Warlord defeat is a problem. And this already came following a 46 chapter setup arc in PH.

Dressrosa was the beginning of the end for One Piece imo. This is where the bloating really started to crank up to the max. That arc had no business being more than 60 chapters max.

The year was 2013, I was a child then, obsessed with the list of episodes, and something told me I could simply skip the Long Ling Land arc, which in 2026 or even 2040 wouldn't make any difference to the story. Here I am, after 15 years of following forums, never having seen a single post mentioning anything useful about that arc. I simply didn't see it, and today I'm sure it wasn't missed.

Long Ring Long Land Arc:
- Only 19 chapters
- Aokiji's debut
- Introduces the Davy Back Fight concept and Davy Jones lore
- Zoro's manly speech to Chopper
- Tease of Sanji being a prince
- No Sword Style
- Afro Luffy
- Setup for Robin's backstory
- Robin frozen; Aokiji vs. the Monster Trio; Luffy loses

The arc had lore, good character moments, gags, and real tension, all while being a short arc.

Its also important the crew working together and highlights the dynamics before Usopp's insecurities towards the end of the arc which culminates later in water 7

idk man, seems like a limiting way of engaging with art.

Oda focusing on random ass characters is nothing new for a very long time. The number of chapters aren't what defines how good an arc is, the content does and the characters in it do.

For example, Egghead has 68 chapters, is it better than Dressrosa because it's shorter..? Imo no, the plot was questionable, characters are unlikeable, and no one cares about them anymore. None of those applies to Dressrosa, which objectively has more iconic moments and characters than Egghead has chapters.

If I had to choose, I would say amazon Lilly, since there isn´t anything that interesting about the arc, it´s just set up.

Though I think:Dressrosa, WCI, Wano and Egghead is a better example of 4 controversial arcs. I don´t think any of these but FMI is really ¨controversial¨ lol

Egghead might be better than Dressrosa honestly for the simple fact that it was half as long. We had to sit through 102 chapters of mostly irrelevant characters doing irrelevant things just to get an offpanel G4 vs Doflamingo fight, that is brutal. The payoff was not worth the excruciating snail pace dragging in that arc.

Do you really believe that?
The fact that you're even salty about Doffy after 11 years just means it left a big impact on you. For sure more than anything in Egghead :dankfoil:

I do. I like Doffy and Law is one of my fave characters. Dressrosa was asscheeks and made me quit visiting anime/manga forums until it ended.

If Dressrosa was 60 chapters it would be one of the best One Piece arcs, since Law/Doffy scenes are elite in the arc. Unfortunately way too much bloat in that arc to look past it. It's a tough read and even a tougher watch.
