Davy Jones is from real nautical folklore, but there's no proof he was built up as this major void century figure integral to the story any longer than Imu was.

They can be named drop whenever, it doesn´t really imply they were integrated into the story in an interesting way. Joyboy and Davy jones are literal nothing characters 1200 chapters in the story
