Battles Without Honour, right? His character song is based on that.

I actually read the synopsis and am semi convinced that Akainu and Dragon are meant to rep the MC and his friend who he's ordered to kill.

Also Kizaru's character in that series has a twist which is why I expect some things from him.

Agree that either rebellious Akainu or Terminator Akainu works. As long as he gets treated with respect.

But BWH is not the only one. This guy on piratefolk brought up another movie too: https://www.reddit.com/r/Piratefolk/comments/1o83y1m
This is Aramaki's film Ronin Gai. Akainu doesn't quite match but some inspiration is there from the epithet at least.

Have you ever seen the Truck Yaro series btw? Kizaru's character is actually based on a guy from the second film, even down to the name.
Nice list
Inspiration can come from more than one character I feel, especially since the Admirals have two sides, their normal self and the attitude they take under their zodiac code name. So you can say douchebag Akainu was inspired by the guy in the reddit post, whereas Sakazuki who values honor family etc was inspired by bunta in battles

The truck movie I read about, skimmed through the movie in a couple minutes and nothing interesting came my way so no idea what connection it might have lol

What the hell are you talking about
Check it out:

Matthew 17:1-2

And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Revelation 1:14-16
14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

Thanks! I did some research trying to find their backstories. Fuji was straightforward but Kuzan was really hard....you may be right on Kuzan's potential tragic end.

That's the second time you've mentioned the dual personality thing, how does that work exactly? Like an alter ego?

Like what's the difference between each Admiral and his true self? Is it a big gap?

Imo if I understand it right, Fuji is the Admiral who is truest to himself. Ryokugyu and Aramaki might end up having the biggest gap if my hunches are true.

Forgot about that
:josad:
What's Kuzan's deal actually? He seems like a really indecisive one. Outside of hating Akainu and liking Garp I can't really get a grasp on his idealogy.

Like Kizaru is more straightforward, he's a salaryman who likes his little bro and hates pirates, Kuzan is like...respects Garp, thinks Akainu is bad for killing scholars but tried to take out Saul himself?
He was originally a pretty standard marine who believed in Absolute Justice(which is why he stopped Saul), but he was horrified by Sakazuki sinking the refugee ship of non scholars out of fear of a scholar escaping, which leads him to changing his own values to an extent.

I think I'm going to make a post that's well structured with just a few reasons why I think Nika is the in-story name for Jesus Christ

The reasons are:

- Jesus has a transformation that looks like Nika

- The cross and church is associated with the Nika sun symbol

- Jesus has a sword similar in description to Nika's sword

- Throughout history, the word Nika has been used in association with Jesus
Hmmm.....

We also have "Jesus" Burgess lol

@Shiroyru @TheAncientCenturion
TBH, the problem with Fujitora is I can´t currently picture him even fighting for the Marines in a war against pirates. Like what Kuzan did in taking down Jozu, fighting WB, really trying to kill Luffy etc. It´s a pretty bad choice to give him the slave freeing scene when he has such limited screentime in general
Tbh, there’s a lot of casuals and manchildren out there who actually do want Fujitora to become generic Luffy cheerleader #256, so Oda could just be dumbing down Fuji’s character to pander to them. Why people want Fuji to be as bland as possible is beyond me
