I think this is not about powers. But Vivi is a copy of Lily, which is why Imu wants Vivi. He wants to turn her into an immortal wife, so he will finally feel happy in his lonely, immortal life. And I believe the marriage will happen in the last arc of One Piece, and only then Imu will be defeated

Look, my point will be next:
Oda returned Vivi to the story just for her role in the Final Saga Plot with Imu.
So until Vivi's whole plot will be revealed, which is including capture of Vivi, Imu will not die. If BB absorbs Imu, he will be revived like Orochimaru, who was absorbed by Sasuke, and then will capture Vivi. SO I think Imu should not be defeated untill whole plot with Vivi is solved. But of course, Oda can use BB, absorb weakened Imu, and then revive Imu after BB's death.

I almost forgot Teach can also potentially have Pluton :BigW:
Teach is getting Pluton, no question about it. Franky will have to build a new one with the giants from Punk Hazard to counter the original. That was the whole point of Tom’s blueprints in the first place, to create a second weapon in case the original fell into the wrong hands. Next time we see Teach I expect him to be in Wano breaking the borders to take it. Maybe using Avalo Pizarro’s powers.

very intriguing implications for this if it's true, since it's a very direct parallel to how davy jones is, according to the legend, cursed and bound to the bottom of the sea.
wonder if davy jones can also come up if he wants but like imu gets instantly nerfed if he does that
I don't think Davy D. Jones can travel up to the surface world like Imu can come down to it, since Imu likely requires his Abyss abilities to do so.

This is where I believe Blackbeard's Yami Yami no Mi could be the key to freeing Jones. Not only might it nullify Imu's Devil powers and therefore the curse, but the awakened versions of its Black Hole and Liberation techniques could also potentially liberate him from those dark depths.
What's interesting is that Davy Jones is believed to be immortal, like Imu, and is said to take in all sunken things. The latter aspect mirrors the concept behind the Yami Yami no Mi. In the deep sea, there's no light; only darkness. The gravity of the depths exerts crushing water pressure, akin to a black hole. Maybe the Yami Yami no Mi is the key to liberating Davy from his cursed fate. Its Awakening could allow Blackbeard to use existing darkness to manifest his Black Hole technique in those depths and then use his Liberation technique to free Davy.

I could see it being one of two things.

One, Imu might have some sort of Ancient Disease. We know there's some old diseases going around Mariejois, since Ginny caught Sapphire Scale there. It's possible that the reason why Saturn was experimenting on people in the first place was to try and find a way to cure Imu. Maybe spending time in the Flower Garden is the only thing holding Imu's disease back. And maybe Imu exerting himself is causing the disease to progress rapidly.

Or the second option, it might have something to do with the "terraforming" of this World. We know that there have been Three "Worlds" in the past. That implies that the World has been transformed before, likely due to different people becoming the "True God" of this World. If Imu lived during the Void Century, that means they lived in the Second World, before it was transformed into the current Third World we know about today. Since "Mu's World is still Incomplete", it's possible that Imu's body, which was "designed" to live in the Second World cannot handle the "atmosphere" of the Third World. The Flower Garden may have a environment that's similar enough to the Second World's environment that Imu can best survive there. It's a similar situation to "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" (the manga version), where the humans were all altered to survive the pollution of their world, but cannot breathe the purified air once it's cleaned up. Imu's body may have never been "converted" to be compatible with the Third World's new environment.

Although, it is pretty likely that Imu does also have a time limit. Since that seems to be the case for Luffy in Gear 5, and even Loki in his Nidhogg form. Powerful Devil Fruits just take it out of you. So, that could also be a factor, but maybe not quite this early on in the battle.

It could be something else, but those are the two options that are coming to my mind. We'll see.
