Controversial CMV: Kishimoto Writes women better than Lolda

Sakura Haruno (Naruto)

  • Emotional neglect and unrealistic expectations: Sakura’s early life is portrayed as ordinary but emotionally distant; her parents give little shown support while expecting conventional success. That emotional blankness contributes to insecurity and a craving for validation.
  • Social pressure and school dynamics: At the start of the series Sakura obsesses over Sasuke and is sensitive to peer judgment. Her parents’ absence from key emotional moments amplifies her feelings of isolation, which she misattributes to parental indifference.
  • Character growth reframes resentment: As she matures under mentors like Tsunade and through battlefield experience, Sakura’s focus shifts from blaming parents to asserting agency.

Ok, I know that I praised Naruto today. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. If there is one thing Kishimoto had problems with and Oda does not, at least not in term of narration, it's Women.

Women, in Naruto, are physically strong, but their world is centered around men. Their agency is not that great either. And as for their narrative role in the story.. really.. it's not amazing.

One Piece lacks physically strong women, it's true, and Oda has a problem with sexualization, also true. But in term of writing?

Oda surpasses every men in every shonen categories and beyond. Women in One Piece have depth, they are more than narrative tools, they have agencies, fears, flaws, strenghts, will, motivations. And all of this is usually linked to a deeper systemic whole.

They are full people rather than just the satellites of men.

Nope. Kishimoto writes cooler women than Lolda. Lolda should not be in the same conversation

Sakura is a better character than Nami fight me

Hell even the "she hits mc so annoying" gag is 10x more frequent with Nami
Sakura is way more inspirational than any female in shonen. No special genes to carry her. Just pure hardworking and determination. She acts more realistic than your average shonen female lead. Sure her motivations are love related. So what? Many people in reality are motivated by infatuations for people. I cried tears seeing her defeat Sasori. Such a peak fight. Sasori is my fave Akatsuki member
