Sakura is way more inspirational than any female in shonen. No special genes to carry her. Just pure hardworking and determination. She acts more realistic than your average shonen female lead. Sure her motivations are love related. So what? Many people in reality are motivated by infatuations for people. I cried tears seeing her defeat Sasori. Such a peak fight. Sasori is my fave Akatsuki member

Ok, I know that I praised Naruto today. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. If there is one thing Kishimoto had problems with and Oda does not, at least not in term of narration, it's Women.

Women, in Naruto, are physically strong, but their world is centered around men. Their agency is not that great either. And as for their narrative role in the story.. really.. it's not amazing.

One Piece lacks physically strong women, it's true, and Oda has a problem with sexualization, also true. But in term of writing?

Oda surpasses every men in every shonen categories and beyond. Women in One Piece have depth, they are more than narrative tools, they have agencies, fears, flaws, strenghts, will, motivations. And all of this is usually linked to a deeper systemic whole.

They are full people rather than just the satellites of men.

Name one One Piece woman that's better than Temari.
