….There are much younger mangaka who can’t handle the weekly schedule long term. Your comments on that alone feels out of touch with the work load. You can’t generalize how long anyone wants to go, and Oda has been doing it for a long time and managing many projects and a titan sized IP.
OP won’t go as long as you hope. I am just being realistic
Im fully aware of what Oda goes through? I was aware of when he had Tonsilitis in 2014 and began reducing his workload on the manga, receiving breaks every 6-8 chapters. That has since slowly increased to every 2-4 chapters and thats been consistent the last 5 years.
The difference between other young mangaka and what Oda is currently is that they never took care of themselves or had other debilitating issues that purely come from luck of the draw. Yes, Oda is lucky even after excessive smoking and eating bad. But he also takes care of himself these days due to health scares, he has talked about this.
Anyway, Ive been hearing the same shit from people like you for more than a decade now, saying it would have ended 5 years ago at this point due to x reason. Yet here we are, with it not ending at all in the near future because the story isnt finished
You arent being realistic, you are being pessimistic. Being realistic is knowing how this mangaka has operated for 30 years. He's just getting to all of his big characters that hes been hyping for the majority of the manga. That takes time to go through.
If he doesnt finish, or is forced to rush due to health issues, thats one thing, but saying he'll rush it because you are being "realistic" is wrong when literally every estimation about this series ending has been wrong in the last decade, with no sign of it ending still or being near an actual ending point.
