I've personally never cared for gender and race swaps. They're fine from time to time but for the past few years they've been getting a bit much.
Honestly I agree with the general sentiment here that this reboot is unneeded....an accurate animated adaptation, maybe in the style of Arcane or the old Disney 2D movies on the other hand would've been phenomenal.
