If Luffy can finish or at least end up doing better than Loki did against currently nerfed Imu, then he’ll get a huge W. But if Oda has Loki suicide himself just to nerf Imu and give Luffy a chance at looking good against Imu (Doffy style) then he’s going to continue being clowned for being carried by plot

--Luffy in G5 was dominated by hybrid Kaido sans bajrung gun.

--A mentally affected Kizaru stalled G5 luffy successfully.

--Topman tanked and hurt G5 luffy when he attacked him.

--Now Imu is far stronger than these 3 characters I mentioned above.

--So either luffy gets a significant buff for luffy to do somewhat decent or luffy should gets badly dominated.

Lets see what oda does.

They did. Imus introduction in Elbaf where he’s coughing up blood after the Gorosei said they’re worried about him going shows that Imus already nerfed.

Given the fact that we saw a flashback where Imu pretty much stomped the legendary descendant of his other rival, Davy Jones, that should be expected.

I don’t know about a W but I imagine Luffy isn’t gonna perform worse than whatever Loki does next chapter.

I’m kinda hoping it’s a 2v1 to keep Imu at a pedestal but still make it somewhat believable that they could hold out enough for Imu to get affected by whatever condition he suffers outside of Marijoa and leaves the island.

Either way I don’t think the Straw Hats are meant to fail this arc.

The question we should be asking is should Luffy even do well against Imu. Imu should be comfortably stronger than any character currently by a factor of 10. Should someone who is Undoubtedly yonkou level do good against them.

Imu is probably on a time limit before forcibly getting sent back to Marijoies and Luffy will "win" by wasting Imu's time and preventing him from achieving any goal in Elbaf.

Luffy will probably hold his own for a while and do something that shocks imu. Then the fight will be interrupted by something and imu either be forced to return or leave on his own. Either way oda is going to let luffy get his shot off against imu even though he stands no chance of winning currently. It's going to be set up not only for a joyboy flash back but eventually luffy vs imu later.
