Critics are fine. A flow of trashing is not. It's either the testimony of a problem with the content OR a problem with the fanbase. And the content is fine. In fact it's even fire on objective technical narrative levels. Yes, it's not perfect, but it's absolutely not something that deserve this constant flow of hatred. So the problem is not the content. It's the perception of the content. And when said perception clashes with the appreciation of others and their enjoyement, it creates pain and disappointment.

It's one thing to share your passion, it's another to try to share what you like in a sea of negativity. It's mentally draining on every level. Maybe you don't experience that, but others do and they have the right to be included in the fanbase as well.

The flow of hatred is not normal. It's the result of people refusing to quit and bringing negativity to the rest as a result. It's not ok in this current state. Yes, it's just a manga, and maybe for you it means nothing, but for others, a passion is the only light in their lives. It deserves to be cherished, not to be trashed 24/7

Questionning is fine. Like I said, I do that myself. But when people tells you that it is too much. Perhaps the best thing to do is reflect and tone down the hate.

Youve highlighted the problem. a flow of thrash say for you its 10 threads a day
and for another its only a couple
so would we as a community take a stance based on that to limit what sort of threads, discussions are created to make both these people feel included ? what sort of assessments is being made to discern between critic and hate .

Youve defined it , does everyone else agree with you? most of the threads you highlighted span over 3 pages. what is the metric for sufficient discussion. you are too far in your own head

Your idea of inclusivity sort of impedes on the ability of others to feel included . Op fans may sometimes raise general negative points on the direction of the series but its not all in totality , vast majority of people here are very much still engaged so what exactly is your meter of whether the scale is overly positive or negative? is there an objective answer or is it more of a feel that varies from person to person.

Yes. People are still engaged. Meaning that the wave of critics that I see are actually performative ways to gain validation rather than anything else.

As for the critics in themselves, I have yet to see critics that holds on good basis and not simply on bad reading practices and bad expectations.

Then there is of course the bigger question in the room , why grown adults feel personally attacked because other people hate the story they read. why did it become personal? would be understandable if its their story, their art, perhaps a personal contribution they made. what exactly is behind this attachment.

Perhaps one day you will understand how the negativity you see impacts the negativity you feel.

The acceptation for this flow of negativity is induced by the system of this forum. It's a "local" systemic consequence I should say. The current system of this forum, like many forums and communities like Twitter, is the promotion of the hate or the controversial opinion.

SO the solution is not to ban people. The solution is to promote positivity instead of promoting negativity and we do that through changes with the current system. Maybe we add new forms of "like", maybe we add something that I proposed before, a form of seal of approval of the community. Maybe we create rewards and new sections.

Positivity, like negativity can be influenced by the system. If we know how it works, we can let the community shine on its own. The negativity will disappear on its own.

I dont think you are thinking outside the box, when orojackson fell off the early days a couple forums like this one spawn up . dont recall all of those which remained but this one became fairly dominant with one piece. I joined OJ maybe I was 16 at the time but for a lot of people it was clear the constant zoro and sanjji comparisons, story hatred , fandom battles were something they wanted to see less of so they of course had deeper moderation to bring about what you are talking about.



The funniest thing is I think in some way the community answered this problem because in many ways its why a lot of people started coming here instead as opposed to some of the other communities you talk about. Not saying its perfect , am saying its not outside the box at all.

I believe you. But what I propose is different. You will need some notions of political materialism to understand that.

I propose a promotion of positivity through the restructuration of the forum, not a negation of negativity. You are looking at highly moderated areas, thinking that I want to up the moderation. And in one case it's true : for the case of inclusivity (racism, bigotry, transphobia, ableism, that kinda things). The rest, I consider that we need to change the system to change the way people interact.

I don't want more moderation, I want more qualitative interactions. I want a new system of interactions. A new programmation if you prefer. Or rather "I wanted". I don't want to fight more than necessary for this forum anymore. This moderation doesn't deserve that.

I appreciate diverse opinions and takes. And I do think there's plenty of good faith critisism going around in this forum. But you just hit the nail on the head. A great deal of the hate is just that, performative hostility.

Some do it cuz they're weird edge lords with nothing better to do. Others simply want to feel like they know better than everyone and will shit on the story even when it's good. It is undeniable at this point that this forum and twitter have contributed to this community's toxicity. Can't really speak for reddit since I've never been part of that community.

I have not been active here as I used to be. I used to take OP seriously, now I dont. It is not like I dont complain about the series, but now I am more like "ehh, whatever!". Like many others have said, we like to trash talk about Nika Piece.

Do we hate some developments? Yes. Do we still love some aspecte of OP? Yes. I still think it is better than many other mangas, but there are still some flaws and many readers dont like recent developments.

My people, it is art. People feel different things towards artistic mediums and it is impossible to make every single fan feel the exact same way. I honestly say that those who try to judge how others should feel can go to hell, so should those who can't understand criticism and grievance and claim you need to drop it if you "hate the series so much."

It is extremely subjective and people can feel however they want. It is perfectly fine to lose enjoyment with the series, but there's obviously some enjoyment left if people still read and talk about it.
