You compete throughout the years to eventually win. All the greats have gone through the same thing. We believe we can make it because we’ve come far only to lose in the end. It builds character and prepares you for the day you actually make it.
MLS is helping a bit with Lionel Messi and Son Heung-minthe last few years but not close enough yet, its pretty hard to find a soccer field in the US that isn't designated for a HS/University, even for NYC
My son has zero motivation in scaling the pay walls to dedicate himself to these associations. Maybe a half dozen random kids playing in the park don't do it for him either.

Basketball and Football have paywalls as well and we don't lack talent there tho. I do agree that there's no more working class sports nowadays. Basketball used to be the last one but nowadays if your kids arent going to camps they are screwed
Kids don’t really feel the sport growing up. When you go to any other country in Europe, South America, or even Mexico you start feeling how culturally heavy soccer is for them.
