Yeah!

Spain has more technical depth and is much more balanced side than France.

So, I can totally see France trying to gain upper hand over the possession and control the tempo of the match and why they are going with those changes.

Their play styles are totally different and opposite so I was expecting France to stick to their own style as deviating from your natural game play that has been so successfull often backfires especially when team hasn't been playing like that at all
