Teach and Cell has mindblowing similarities once you think about it. I think Oda was impressed by Toriyama's writing and wanted to quote some of it.

• Teach and Cell are central antagonists of their own manga who grew stronger as the manga went on.
  • Cell was born with Frieza, Goku, Piccolo etc... genes pre-installed in his body. Went on to absorb 600k humans and two androids to peak.
  • Teach was born with the ability to hold more devil fruit powers. Went on to absorb two devil fruits and soon a third.
• Both Teach and Cell have sworn enemies in Shanks and Trunks, who are coincidentally, sons of royalty swordsmen that warned others of a looming threat (Teach/Cell).
  • Note that Shanks and Trunks share a hairstyle. Funnily enough Trunks' mentor lost his left arm protecting him too.
• Both Teach and Cell hijacked live broadcast to announce that they would destroy the world
• Both Teach and Cell are unable to sleep. Cell stood 10 days waiting for his tournament. Teach has insomnia.
• Both Teach and Cell were planning their rise to power since they were young
  • Cell was planning to become complete all the way since he was a larval because Dr. Gero programmed the blue print info inside him. Cell knew what to do since he was in his healing pod
  • Teach too was planning his rise to power since he joined WB as a teenager. He read the DF encyclopedia and realized that getting the strongest Logia, Paramecia and Zoan is essential to reach his potential

The concept of Davy Back, which Teach might do vs Luffy, could even mirror the Cell Games.

*Not that important but interesting: Cell made his debut in the Japanese release date of the DBZ chapter in August 3rd 1992. August 3rd being Teach's birthday.

If Darkness DF helped him to do that, probably not but it could be related to Davy Jones also.

Good detail. We don't know if he has insomnia only or something else, perhaps his Haki is so powerful he developed a superior metabolism, (like BM almost always having an auto Haki defense except for when she remembers Carmel) it's a mystery for sure.

God tier awakening most likely. He can be earth god reincarnate. I don't like him stealing imu's DF theory. He should have his own unique god powers.

That's assuming Darkness DF isn't actually Davy Jones's original ability (similar to Gomu/Nika being JB's), if it is, he doesn't need to merge, he just need to awaken the DF.

I am betting on Yami.

Considering that Luffy and BB are polar opposite to each other, it's likely that this holds true even when it comes to their dfs.

Here's the portrayal contrast between them.

• Nika is symbolic to Joy - Yami is symbolic to despair
• Nika is dawn - Yami's darkness is infinite night or a void.
• Nika has bright white glow - Yami and BB have dark, black theme going on.
• Nika gives freedom to manifest as per imagination - Yami takes other people freedom of power and movement.
• Nika's awakening makes surrounding bouncy - Yami's awakening can crush surrounding (Blackholes are known for their immense gravity)

Yami has always been portrayed as special case of Logia.

It's awakening could add some God tier touch to it. He's likely to be Earth God or Moon God (I think Earth God is more possible based on his dream of King of the World)

Apep / Apophis (Egyptian): The giant serpent deity of darkness and chaos who attempts to swallow Ra (the Sun God) during his journey through the underworld every night.

Tsukuyomi (Shinto): The God of the Moon who killed the food goddess out of disgust, contrasting sharply with Amaterasu (Sun).

I think Yami's awakening is the one which will cement BB as some God tier being (he was specifically looking for yami for decades). Rest is just bonus.

Good ideas. Yami may also be connected to Davy Jones, right? The concept of "Davy Jones locker" that can store things seems thrmatically related to Yami. As well as concept of pirate greed.
