There's nothing to blame but the players and their mental attitude and also wrong tactics for Scaloni in my view.
4-4-2 formation vs Spain, that obviously leads to one sided match with an embarassing overall game stats.

They got many options, but choose the haramball option, it's not even Messi game tbh.
I'd say they chicken out.
Playing defensive doesn't help, they're simply lucky Emi have top tier performance + most of Spain shooting/finishing was just meh, that final results was only 1-0

It's just sad when they could/might have put more fight with other formation with lots of other young talent to choose from.

It’s impossible to beat it unless you have Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets on your team and take the game away from Spain players.

It's a given that no tactics or other formation will beat Spain possession wise, especially talking about Argentina midfield that have no quality and creative player on the lvl of Spain

But using 4-4-2 was just an even easier job for Spain.
It's sad that Nico paz, and many other younger talent have no game to play, it sounds Scaloni doesn't trust them yet.....

Anything but defensive would work better i bet.
