Break Week Imu power-cliffing the verse makes sense from a historical perspective

#1
Disclaimer: This thread is not intended to be anything profound. Rather, I want to highlight something intuitive that I hadn't given much thought until recently.

I've seen a fair amount of people clinging onto the old gen top tiers even after Imu's full reveal. I'm not sure if this is about resistance to power-creep or simply a deep love for the OGs. But I believe that, compared to other prominent shonen, One Piece's power-creep can actually be rather smooth. I say this as someone who thinks that current One Piece is dogshit and Oda is so washed that your local laundromat is asking him for his secret.

Anyway, the main point:

What are the main ways that someone becomes a competent fighter in One Piece? Aside from innate abilities (including but not limited to Devil Fruits and race-based powers), I would say that training, knowledge and experience account for the vast majority of one's power level.

We know that the Ancient Kingdom was so advanced that even Vegapunk had trouble understanding their creations. This implies that they had access to a wealth of information that is probably unquantifiable. How is this relevant? Because it is highly likely that this included a much deeper, much more comprehensive understanding of both haki and Devil Fruits, and potentially other unexplored abilities (for example, Maki/Omen). As a result, the fighters at the time would have been significantly more knowledgeable than even the old gen top tiers like Garp, Ray and Gaban who seem to know everything about combat.

On top of this, we know for a fact that the technology present in the Ancient Kingdom make the modern ones look like child's play. Between the Ancient Weapons, Emeth, and now the legendary weapons wielded by the 20 Kings, we've seen firsthand how this technological sophistication bleeds directly into warfare. Imagine how strong you would've needed to be in order to compete with stuff like this. If anything, Imu's strength was a necessary adaptation.

When you put all of this together, it is very easy to see why Imu is as strong as he is. His contemporaries had the best technology, the best understanding of haki and Devil Fruits, the best weapons, and consequently the best overall skills - of all time. Furthermore, we know that haki blooms in the heat of battle (i.e., experience makes you a LOT stronger). Imu, Joyboy, the 19 Kings, and all the top tiers of their era - fought in the biggest war ever. They already had all the ingredients to become God tiers compared to the current era, but when you throw in the experience card, it reinforces this idea even more.

However, everything from that era was utterly erased. All the technology, all the knowledge, all the weapons -- completely buried and eventually forgotten. So what does this mean? It means that for the last 800 (900?) years, the top tiers have been playing catch-up. They are all essentially like primitive cavemen to someone like Imu, despite existing chronologically later. Their ceilings are capped because of their limited access to information.

Once Luffy and *his* contemporaries rediscover everything the Ancient Kingdom knew and had access to, they will be able to surpass everyone who came before them, by a country mile. And it will quite honestly be logically justifiable.

TLDR:
The powercreep makes sense because Imu comes from an era marked by the absolute pinnacle of knowledge as well as the pinnacle of fighting experience (war). Knowledge translates directly into fighting prowess (technology, optimization of abilities, etc.) while experience is the quickest way to improve, so Imu's power-level is understandable. The current gen has significantly less knowledge and experience in comparison to the point that they are fairly primitive. When Luffy's gen gains all the knowledge and war experience of the Ancient Kingdom, they will be able to catch up to Imu's gen.

You got the whole thing wrong... There is no power creep... You are falling victim to a hype wave...
If anything, Imu is not a bit stronger than any of the other 19 kings who all fought on the same side.
Did he beat any of them fair and square? Considering they didnt have their own weapons, very unlikely.

Could he be getting stronger by forging Covenants? Sure, just like Moriah was getting stronger by devouring Shadows.
However, an ability that resets all those abilities and brings you down to the actual power level is already revealed.
The haki burst that negates all abilities.

Imu doesnt have the strongest haki in the show, Mihawk does. Zoro's haki will surpass both.
Imu doesnt have the strongest weapon in the show, Mihawk does. Zoro's weapons will surpass all.
Imu doesnt have the strongest evolution of humanity, Zoro does.
Imu doesnt have the strongest combat style in history, Zoro does.

I have told many times, never powerscale people based on their performance against Luffy, or those similar to Luffy...
While Imu may be growing ridiculously strong by stacking all abilities into himself, his strength is only a problem for those who dont have the ability to reset all his buffs. You could argue it is a problem for a vast majority but those who shouldnt be bothered by it still exist.

What exactly have you seen from Imu that you think it is beyond top tiers with aCoC's grade?
Every ability displayed so far is nothing out of the ordinary. Every single thing has a solution.
Just because the solution might not be obvious in a given moment, doesnt mean it isnt there...

And we are at the point of Imu facing Gaban... This can go super bad, super fast for the power creep gang.

That's where Haki comes into play though,
And even though Ancient Kingdom is no more, but it's Influence still remains in the form of DFs,
DFs are clearly Peak of Technology, so I don't agree with the Idea that Top Tiers are trying to Catch Up with Old World,
Emet is from Ancient Kingdom, when Joy Boy wanted to help him against Future Threats, He gave him a Burst of his Haoshoku Haki, not some Advanced Weapon from that Time,

The way Technology empowers People is through modifying their Lineage Factor, think of it like attempting to evolving Human Race,
We've seen Multiple Non-Human Races, DF Users, Cyborgs & Robots, Enhanced Humans, Abyss Contract & Omen, Drugs, Humans born Special, Clones ... etc all of these are made to surpass Human Limits through Lineage Factor,

And yet, Oda in Chapter 1 Introduced us to Someone who represents Peak "Normal" Human, who is able to Fight & Threaten any of these just because of his guts, just because of his willpower, just because he has Haoshoku Haki.

I don't agree with this statement of Power Cliff & Power Creep, simply because our Benchmark is & has always been Shanks, and I have yet to see someone Introduced who isn't Comparable to him, you can't say the Manga is jumping Power Levels when Chapter 1 Guy is still the one we wish to see beaten or surpassed or overwhelmed,

Mihawk Introduced? Oda finds a way to make Fans compare him to Shanks
WB Introduced? Oda does the same
Rayleigh? Garp? Roger?
Other Yonko?
Oden? Xebec?
Shamrock? Loki?
... etc

Even Joy Boy wasn't spared from a Shanks Comparison!
Even Nika actually, because We got confirmation that Nika's Rival was someone who had same Powers as Loki,
So Indirectly, Shanks is still in conversation to be compared with "Anyone",

Imu's Weapon Handling cannot be better than Mihawk, so automatically, Shanks can definitely fight him,
And if Joy Boy can handle Imu's Haki, then Shanks who have comparable Haki to Joy Boy can definitely do the same,
So it all comes down to Omen & how to Counter it, and if Zoro & Sanji are gonna find a Solution to it, you think Shanks can't?
Not just Shanks, but his Rival Blackbeard also has Yami DF which Counters DFs, so He would definitely perform way better against Imu than anyone present in Elbaph currently, and let's not mention how Imu is being compared to Mihawk due to his Eyes, Swords & some Moves,

Imu didn't prove yet to be Incomparable to Shanks, and until We meet someone who does, One Piece still doesn't have any Power Creep/Cliff.
Wait for Shanks Full Hype Moments, and then decide, don't be fooled by Imu's Introduction recency bias.

I also have to believe Imu had to acquire his power after the Void Century, because if I'm one of the other kings and I notice he hasn't aged at all while myself and the others do, I would be pretty worried for my son and heir that he's going to usurp him.

Also, you know, trusting a guy with the literal Satan-Satan no Mi seems pretty unwise.
