There is no narrative basis to say its unfair
Sanji fans made elaborate argumentation, parallels based on the story at hand for Sanji having Coc
From the parallels to Zoro to dream like white beard
His character role to his royal blood
To subtle story hints and now every one of those speculation about it coming to fruition.
It all clicks because we realized what made it click in the narrative.

Actually, it could be one of the best written CoC awakening of the manga.
The "stifled spear" hint was left by Oda since Baratie (it's obviously a retcon, but well connected) and his character growth started since WCI, 4 arcs ago.
It will be something related to his will of protecting the weaks, so not a "conqueror", but more a kind king who helps his people.
If you were talking about CoC coating, well, Monster Trio are combat genius.
Sanji "invented" Diable Jambe out of nowhere, like Luffy with Gear 2 and 3 or Zoro when he instinctively used Haki against Mr.1.
Him stopping to subconsciously nerf himself and suddently unlocking his true potential is not too stretched.

It's not unfair really. Luffy could do it after learn you can flow your coc just like your coa. Zoro did it because he already knew how to flow his coa he just unknowingly used coc and was flowing it as well. Sanji is smart and has now seen like 12 coc user spam it. If he unlock coc then adcoc a little later oda could explain it as sanji self teaching through watch all the other coc users. If he really wanted to he could even tie it into the power of love sanji has going on. But after seeing gaban it was a given sanji would learn adcoc.
Nah, even though I hated east blue sanji‘s speech about throwing away the ambitions, he still had somewhat guts and qualities of becoming a king himself. And since zoro and sanji are wings it was only a matter of time for him to get confirmed he will get coc aswell. I mean it was zorover after gaban having acoc aswell.
